I was just about to download the setup file from Reason and K9 blocked it for me too.

So even if the adware/PUPs protection isn't available in the free version, are Unchecky's features real-time?

I don't get it why is their webpage and binaries so heavily flagged by everyone and everything. It's ridiculous. WTF!?

    What webpage and what binary?
I have just tried both for Unchecky and Reason and got 0 detections for websites and only 1 FP for both executables on VT.

I have installed Unchecky and when the computer boots up I get an AVIRA pop up saying it protected the host file. Is that normal?

Yes since Unchecky alters HOSTS file to block malicious hosts that download junk into PC.

But if Avira protected HOSTS files from changes by Unchecky, Unchecky will not work as intended, right?
Unchecky needs that HOSTS changes to work correctly, right?
