but there is not way to defrag the "moved files or folders" + exclude these file .. from automatic defrag

Same here, actually i am a bit pissed! I reported a list of 17 bugs to Isso about 6 months ago and none, repeat: NONE, have been fixed in the new release. Most are "just" UI issues, but some really concern the functionality of boot time defrag. Isso told me months ago that he identified most of the bugs, but then I wonder, why nothing has been fixed. Maybe they released the wrong buildo_O

It seems the consolidate mode vith FragProtect on and Fast Consolidate option has been changed : now UD3 moves files that are not fragmented before reaching the end of the disk. I preferred the previous behavior

For a start, you could read the release notes. There you find the new features and the fixed bugs. As for the not-fixed bugs you could read my previous post.

It does seem more like an asthetic release than anything else.

It's a nice product but they really need a forum, there's no support.

You should be happy to learn that, according to the DiskTrix web site, the DiskTrix Message Boards and User Forum are "COMING SOON".

(of course, millennial cult leaders also say the same thing about societal transformation).

If that soon ever shows up, that would be very good, apart from support all users could share their tips and tricks for best results

In the mean time, I have reverted to the previous build 3.0.100.19 because the consolidate mode is working much better. With the new build, non fragmented files get moved whereas they don't in the .19 build. This happens during the first defragmentation with the new build and also with subsequent ones. Previous build consolidate mode was working really like DefragExpress, which is what I want : the power of UD3 and the cleverness of DE for regular defrags.

Just tried this new build. The "issue" with consolidate mode is this there. This new builds are moving big files that are not fragmented and already within the area where they should be. I keep the -.19 build.

Also read that there will be a boxed version by june, afraid they're a bit late out though considering the growing number of SSD's , especially among power users that use this tool.

SSD and defragging tools don't mix - there is no purpose.

Defragging is meant only for physical moveable media to decrease seek times. There is essentially no seek time difference with file location on an SSD

I do notice some defrag companies offering their defraggers with special SSD options...not sure if these are any good or serve any real purpose. Obviously companies like Diskeeper want to stay in business. :) O&O claims "Optimization of Solid State Drives (SSDs) for all brands."

So do the other major players for your information. So lets not try to sound like it's just Ultimate Defrag and O&O that's selling snake oil with SSD features.

perfectdisk will be adding ssd features also

I don't disagree with your sentiments in general, but in rare cases there is purpose to defragging SSD, or at least to defragging certain files on SSD and moving other files out of the way. For example, if you have bootable images (ISO, VHD, ...) on your SSD that need to be contiguous for certain boot methods to work (e.g. grub4dos). Case in point, I recently needed UD3's boot defrag capabilities to move all the system files on a flash drive to one end so that I had enough room left for my contiguous VHD-files of XP and Windows 7.

To everyone that use UD3. What defrag method you use?

    I start...

I use it on Auto Method...

What is in your opinion the best defrag method for maximum performance?

I use mainly the Consolidate mode, with Frag protection. Layout.ini is *not* checked for the system disk, and I exclude files over 512 MB (I use auslogics disk defrag for them, excluding *chunks* over 100MB).

I am not looking for best performance, but for smallest/shorted re-defragmentation.

Please note that I only use build 3.0.100.19. The latest release has many issues.
