the service is named ULCDRSvr.exe and and i came across this page for info on it, however, i dont know how i could have such a service if i dont have or use any Ulead products. i scanned at jotti and the file came clean. my only hunch is that WinFast Entertainment Center (software for my tv tuner) installed it but can anyone give any insight or verify WinFast as the source?

    Hi WSFuser,

Could it be that your WinFast Entertainment Center (software for your tv tuner) came with some additional program(s) from Ulead?

Am I right that your TV-tuner-card/graphic-card is from Leadtek?

I saw on the internet some older messages on Dutch and Belgium sites, telling that a Leadtek card came bundled with software from Ulead.
    For example:
    http://www.breekpunt.nl/nieuwsbericht.asp?id=9298
    http://www.gamespot.be/hardware.cfm?id=32844

Well, it is only a wild guess; I'm afraid that I don't know anything about WinFast/Leadtek.
But I hope that it might help you a little bit.

    Cheers, Jan.

    PS:
Have you looked at the properties of that file ULCDRSvr.exe ?

afaik, ULCDRSvr.exe is the only file related to Ulead. its located (by itself) in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems\DVD.
    yes
thanx anyways. it still puzzles me especially considering how useless it is since i dont have a dvd burner installed.
yes but it doesnt say much:

    File version: 1.0.0.4
    Description: ULCDRSvr
Copyright: Copyright © 2002 Ulead Systems, Inc.

    Hi WSFuser,

I'm afraid that I don't have the right answer....

Somehow I have the feeling that your Leadtek graphic card installed it.
Running regulary a so-called file-integrity-checker might have shed some light to the moment when that file came on your system (sorry, my personal "hang-up" ;)).
