Yesterday, I ran UCheck and could not find Brave (browser) in the "Updates" window.
I've started Brave and received a message to update Brave.

Please beware that developer time is precious, and you can't just assume someone checked it if they did not state it.
There are a million different ways people report to support, and believe me, if you are on the receiving end of support questions you HAVE to ask if it wasn't explicitly stated as from "just" that description there is no way to KNOW if that was checked or not, unless you are on a longer thread with someone and you get a feeling about their knowledge level, so I would like to give some context here.

If you checked obvious things, just state it within the first post it makes the life on the receiving end so much easier and the reply more useful.

    Didn't know about winget...
Just took time to play with it and I have to admit it does the job
True it does not support portable apps, so UCheck still usefull for those
But winget even tells me about updates for c++ and desktop runtime libraries, sweet !

Thanks for the info !!! :thumb:

Are you referencing WingetUI? If so, I just download the WingetUI.Installer and I am thinking of installing it myself. I will wait until I hear back from you before I install it.

    No, winget.exe built into windows
It's a command line app but does all that is needed for installed apps
It does not handle portable apps

winget list (show all installed apps)
winget upgrade (show all apps that need update)
    winget upgrade app_abc (update app_abc)
winget upgrade --all (update all apps that need update)

Well it's on the capture, the sorted window is not displayed and is probably on the right. I've verified, sorting works properly :)

I'd not recommend to update runtime libraries, that may break existing installed programs.

Yes, and it only handles apps that have signed up to Winget.

Yes and no, but you are right to mention it.
If you only perform minor updates making sure not to remove a major version you'll be fine.
Example, if you have runtime 6 and 7 installed, make sur to keep both.
Updating from 6.1 to 6.2 will be fine, not updating from 6.x to 7.x.
Otherwise, be ready to troubleshoot apps that would need the library you have removed
Also need to be carefull for x86 abd x64 version...
If you get stuck, normaly removing the broken app and reinstalling should prompt you to install the missing library.

Earlier in my carreer, I used to be a developper.
So, I know what I'm getting into... :)

But @Tigzy, you are absolutely right to point it out !

    Thanks

    Test as of today

    Cattura.PNG

Nice to see that there are good detections that winget failed to detect correctly (3 out of 6) at least on my machine.
    have a nice day

Any idea what the download "WingetUI.Installer", that I downloaded is? I may rethink installing Winget. I am testing both, UCheck and Quickinstaller and both seem to be doing well. UCheck has been doing an outstanding job in listening to user suggestions and recommendations. And, I feel down the road it is going to be an outstanding program. I only wish it could track all of my programs like SUMo could. Oh well, nothing lasts forever. Thanks and best wishes...

It's GUI on top of winget and other package managers
check this site: WingetUI - Martí Climent (marticliment.com)

And yes UCheck is building to become pretty good !

    Work in progress.
We will separate installed/portable inside the "Installed" tab (name will maybe change...)
It's going to be easier to navigate this way.

Well, folders listed here are the ones you put into "Custom locations". It's probably an error on your side.

Because you don't have folders with hundreds of applications :D
Honnestly it's unsustainable to put everything into the same table.

    H_C is installed in C:\Windows.;)
If I don't put in the custom folder, UCheck doesn't even find the folder and uninstall exe, that obviously no one is interested in.

Could you tell me what folders you have defined in Custom locations ?
Maybe I don't understand where the problem is, isn't "Tools" a subfolder of "Hard_Configurator" ?

Problem is probably in the lack of "Product name" on those binaries.

You mean there's no item in those folders ? Ok I'll take a look.
Obviously files with no product names will be ignored, and the entry discarded in this case
