In UCheck you can "add locations where you store portable software. They will be scanned for new version during scan."

Does UCheck also scan sub-folders? Example:

    C:\Download\Sub-Folder-1
    C:\Download\Sub-Folder-2
    C:\Download\Sub-Folder-3
    ...
If I add C:\Download as a customs location, does UCheck also scan for updates within my sub-folders 1, 2, and 3 (which would be very nice) or is it necessary to add each and every sub-folders to the list of customs locations?

Yes, up to 3 sublevels, ex: C:\Downloads\folder1\folder2\folder3

PS: So, if I add C:\Downloads\Apps to my list of customs locations, UCheck scans
    C:\Downloads\Apps\folder1\folder2\folder3.

If I add only C:\Downloads\ to this list, UCheck only scans
    C:\Downloads\Apps\folder1\folder2. Is this correct?

Correct, this is done to avoid recursing into big folders.

I must be doing something wrong. I added D:\My Documents to the list of custom locations. I have AdwCleaner located in "D:\My Documents\AdwareCleaner". The program name is "adwcleaner 8.4.0.exe". I have maybe 8 or 10 programs in My Documents this way.

After doing a new scan in Ucheck, the number of installed programs did not increase and none of the programs in My Documents were showing in the Installed list.

    What am I doing wrong?

Thanks. I wasn't sure if using this method the programs would be downloaded from their website or from a third party. Thanks for the clarification.

When the programs are downloaded, where do they go? I like to keep a copy in case I have to revert to the prior version after doing an update.

    Thanks,
    Bill

After searching with Google to find where the downloaded files go, one reference said they go to the temp folder. Whch temp folder is that? I downloaded an update for Zoom and then looked in my Windows temp folder (%temp%) and couldn't find it. Is it a different temp folder?

@Tigzy : Do you have a "Data Facts Sheet" like this for SUMo : https://kcsoftwares.com/?privacy In particular, giving an explicit statement on what data is transfered if any and where is it stored ?

@Tigzy : SUMo is giving me notification that MS Edge has to be upgraded from v116 to v117 while Ucheck still states that v116 is up to date. => Is there an automatic way to notify you about missed updates ?

@Tigzy : When "location" is know in the list of installed app, you should propose a "Open Location" pop up menu action.

    Same here.
I bought a license to test full functionality and added D:\Portable Applications which has a boatload of portables, but Scan returned nothing.
But I am optimistic that UCheck will provide solutions for SUMo users, especially with Kyle's help!
UCheck is otherwise a neat program, @Tigzy.

Do you see AdwCleaner there ? To be honnest the portable soft detection is still being developed, so it's not stunning.

    Thanks a lot Kyle !

Not yet, because we don't transfer any user data today.

It should be automatic already, however it may have bugs. I'll check the EDGE bot

    Thanks, we can add that.

Thanks for your trust ! Again, portable Apps is still feature in dev, and we are currently developing new features around it. I think in about 2 weeks we should be able to propose an enhanced portable detection + community feedback.

Once this release is out, we'll start receiving data to work on. For it to be installed or portable applications that the "community" uses the most.
The goal is to go throuh that list, by priority order, and add support for update. And in the meantime, this list should bring at least current version and detection.

    Edge update (important) not notified.
It seems to me that a lot of work needs to be done to improve:

Because it doesn't work the same way. Once we go with community feedback we'll have better alerting and half-automated result on ALL the software.
EDGE has been reported 3 different times above already :)

EDIT, just verified, EDGE is NOT supported. So it won't tell updates today.

No... AdwCleaner is not showing in the list. Neither are any of my other portable programs in "D:\My Documents".

I noticed another poster said Ucheck was not detecting anything on D:\.

Hopefully this will be better after you have finished developing the portable soft detection.

Ucheck is showing an update for Zoom from version 5.15.12 (21574) to version 5.15.21574. Aren't these the same version?
