    @Iangh,
In Firefox, the first URL doesn't open a page, but it offers a .m3u8 download.
The second URL opens a page that says "Access Denied You don't have permission to access". The URL has "exp=1722760310" in it. I think it only works on your system for some time after it was generated, but not for me.
So there is no way for me to see if there is a way to block any subtitles.
If you need assistance, I guess we need the original page, not the download URLs.

    @Stupendous Man,
Here's a BBC News link which has .vtt subtitles, https://d2vnbkvjbims7j.cloudfront.net/containerA/LTN/playlist.m3u8. If you can show me the syntax of blocking the .vtt that would be much appreciated.

I need the URL for the original page, not the .m3u8 download link.

    OK.
You could try the list I currently use.
Which has 2575 rules so less than 1/3 of the World filter list:

    https://github.com/Kees1958/W3C_annual_most_used_survey_blocklist/blob/master/EU_US_MV3_most_common_ad+tracking_networks.txt

And see if some links in the rules are blocked by other filter lists you have subscribed to.
I have verified that while many links are blocked at the DNS level for example by OISD (so a filter list with very few and/or no FPs) some links are not blocked by the filter list I use.

    P.S.

Also it may happen that what is blocked by the internal anti-trackers feature of Firefox, for example "sentry.io" always in the website that I brought as an example "6sense.com", in Edge such blocking is entrusted exclusively to uBlock Origin considering that the website is not blocked at the DNS level.

Obviously in the specific case "sentry.io" is also blocked by Easy Privacy but who can say if it is the same with other links in Kees1958's list?

You need a m3u8 extension to play it.

Ah, OK, thanks. I don't have an extension installed to play m3u8.
If it's an extension that helps your browser play m3u8 streams, I doubt uBlock Origin can do anything to block .vtt subtitles. I guess you would need a setting in the player to show or hide subtitles.
Since no one else has responded to your question, you might consider starting a new dedicated thread specifically about m3u8 streams or about the extension that you use.
    Good luck.

technically - the m3u8 is not the problem, but cloudflare is. and CF is only the server behind "ABC Australia". you never will get it playing this way, not without the real page from abc.

next, that m3u8 contains activated subtitles (see last lines), but it points to other m3u8 and thus ts files to play. some need to grab all other files to have full set for that video - too much work for blocking subtitles.

Kees1958 switched recently from ABP to Ghostery and now uBO Lite. So his self developed filterlists aren't relevant anymore for himself. I hope that he will continue to maintain those lists (for us).

I use "EU US ads&tracking networks MV3 (third-party blocking only) filter list by Kees1958" mostly for this reason:

    https://github.com/Kees1958/W3C_ann...mmit/7532c8ecb83258c46cccccc8026929cdfdc8c95c

I have no need for the World list.
    For a number of reasons.

In addition, the vast majority of links in kees1958's 2 lists are blocked,in my case at the DNS level by various filter lists (OISD,HageZi,EasyPrivacy.....).

Hagezi and Kees1958 complement each other very well.

    Yes.
It would be interesting to know the sources of the common surveys.
To extract a third-party list with even fewer rules.

Thanks. But how did you use that website to check whether uBO is less fast than uBOL?
To me, it looks like the test is done at DebugBear, and whether uBO or uBOL is on your system has no effect on the DebugBear test results.

uBoL has to be faster because limited features and lists - for me its neither nor comparable to uBo.

It is faster for this reason:

    https://github.com/uBlockOrigin/uBOL-home

I would like to compare these 2 extensions, after the performance enhancement work that (I assume) I did in uBlock Origin.

I can only do this test:

    uBlock Origin:

    uBlock Origin Lite:

On the layout/sec test, uBlock Origin Lite seems faster.
But I don't have a definite mathematical difference to compare.

I tested with the Amazon.it website.

Considering that my DNS-level network filters are 361080 I modified the uBlock Origin filter lists to achieve an increase in cosmetic filtering rules with a concomitant decrease in network filtering rules.
I have obviously taken into account the original filter lists present at the DNS level.
This configuration is the one, according to my needs, that performs best:

uBlock Origin 1.59.0 won't Update Now.

What exactly is it that you mean?
Is uBlock Origin 1.59.0 already installed?
If so, if you open the user interface (the dashboard), tab 'Filter lists', does the 'Update now' button remain active?
In that case, there may be a filter list that cannot be updated.
If it is a custom filter list, an imported 3rd-party filter list, that cannot be updated, the reason may be that the filter list's URL changed. In that case, you need to delete the specific custom filter list and import the filter list's new URL.

    Edit
I sent you a personal message regarding one specific custom filter list and its new URL.

Thanks for telling me about it. I never would have figured that out.
