Here you see the log from that rule. I don't know if this is good or bad news. But I hope this can be the end of the discussion.

Like I said some time ago, when you save a page with e.g SingleFile, the elements hidden by uBO are not shown in the saved page.
For example when hiding the top part of Wilders with:
    Code:
    www.wilderssecurity.com##.withSearch.pageWidth

You get this in the saved html:

Thanks, I noticed that one too.
I'm studying the documentation and comparing.

please have in mind that any saved pages like this have to pass firefox and other filtering instances, so eg uBlock. see also #7677

I'm sorry, but I don't get to see this in uBlock's logger. So yes, it's a bad thing. Any instructions on how to reproduce it? Like I said, the logger did help with the problem related to the blocked Twitter content, I believe these are network filters. But it doesn't seem to help when trying to figure out which cosmetic filters are blocked on a page.

I will check it out again, last time I checked it did nothing, but perhaps I didn't operate it in the right way.

Have a look again at this post.
And look here for Chromium based browsers:

You're welcome. Good that you like my filters.
As they're my personal filters for MTF, I hadn't thought they were much use to anyone else, as they hide a lot of MTF elements, perhaps element that you don't want hidden.
For instance, hiding avatars also hides the user's account icon at the top of the page. However, all account info and setting are available in Profile and Account details at the bottom of the page.
And my filters hide most 'social' elements, like MTF 'likes' system. Unbearable stuff to me, but others may like it.

I think I figured it out. I believe that cosmetic filters are displayed in yellow, while I was focused on the entries in red. But as said before, it was some other cosmetic filter that caused it, because I never removed the newsbar on AD. But at least the logger would have gave me a clue, so I will definitely be using it in the future.

Oh no, now I'm turned off again. Perhaps I should simply look for a third party tool to save web pages, I remember in the past you had these kind of apps. The question is if they will allow to remove all crap. Or I should use Firefox for this.

No correct, it has no privacy or security benefits, because elements are still loaded in the background. But I use it all of the time, I thought that everyone did? For example, just a few minutes ago I used it to get rid of this annoying AI Assistant chat window that pops up, see link. You simply right click and choose block element, and poof it's gone! Like I said, it's a killer feature of uBlock in my view.

maybe. i use a script against google link tracking in its results. was formerly an extension which was phased out for firefox on AMO (the dev dropped support).
anyhow i have to repeat that uBo is superior to any other blockers. and someone linked here about parallel usage of uBo and other blockers with the result that ubo is working alone best - just use the best combination of your filters.

its not clever to run several blockers same time, never was.

I don't use Privacy Badger, either. Although its link tracking protection is interesting.
Instead, apart from uBlock Origin, I use the "Don't track me Google" add-on for Google link-conversion removal.
I mostly use Startpage.com search, and sometimes DuckDuckGo, but for the instances that I use Google search it is great to limit Google's annoying link-conversion.

Most tracking parameters can be removed by uBO alone. :)
Google links are clean for me.
    • Privacy ---> AdGuard URL Tracking Protection (built in)
    • Actually Legitimate URL Shortener Tool (Custom)
    Code:
    https://raw.githubusercontent.com/DandelionSprout/adfilt/master/LegitimateURLShortener.txt
Issues with it can be reported in this thread.

Elements hidden by uBO are still hidden in the saved pages from Chromium as well. :)

was removed from AMO. it was rather old, maybe google intervened, i keep a copy. but i have extracted the script behind and its working - once it was a script only for -monkey, no extension.

there also exists another script: "google link remover"

    Thanks very much, nicolaasjan.
    I never thought of that.
Do you need both, or one of the two?

This is the "Don't track me Google" I was referring to:

I use both, just to be sure (though there could be conflicts?).
Maybe you could ask in that support thread (if it hasn't been asked before).

    Thanks, nicolaasjan.
For now, I use "Don't track me Google". I'll take a look at the two that you mentioned later.
For Rasheed187, it can be interesting, as he wondered whether uBlock Origin offered a feature for link tracking protection.

They have the advantage that they work on countless other sites as well. :)

    thank you, mine was "google_search_link_fix-1.6.10".
there was a reason i dont use your linked one.
i dont get this with uBo, only when hitting the 3 dots
when hovering it shows me the link to google.[tld] whatever. andf this is the expected result i want to have. a real link preview, what you show is a not blocked javascript event, in that case google already catched you. but even when i disable all Scripts except uBo and one extension for shortening, i dont get your result, still the clean target link. could be firefox as it can handle such tracking links
