Select with the mouse the temporary rules you want to delete, then "delete" then press the "apply" button to remove the permanent rules on the left screen.

Sorry for being dumb but can you elaborate? I'm pretty new to uBlock. How do I know if a rule is unused and where can I find this rule? Thx!

Only you can know when a rule of yours (created by you) is no longer being used.
And of course it can be found in your rules.

You would probably be a perfect user for uBlock Origin Lite.

:doubt: My bad. I thought that it related to ad lists, not custom rules. :D

Yep, this test is useless and a waste of time. I carried out this test three times within one or two minutes. The test results should have been identical, I guess, but they were not: first test: 4 not blocked, second test: 15 not blocked, third test: 19 not blocked. Go figure!

All of these types of tests are mostly pointless. They do nothing more than to drive some individuals into endlessly obsessing over perfecting their browser settings and ad blocking extensions to achieve the impossible holy grail in privacy perfection. At the end of the day there's no way to completely hide your tracks from everyone.

I have added some considerations to my previous comment in Github.
The reliability of this new test is rather poor.

I'm having enabled automatically update filter lists but hovering over any filter list it shows "Last update: 2 days ago". This is displayed for all lists. However "Update now" is inactive so the only way to update filter lists is to force each list and then "Update now" will update them all. Is this expected update behaviour? What is schedule for the automatic update?

I have tried both extensions and both seem to be doing nothing, looks like they are total crap. And I doubt they will be able to save webpages correctly if the browser itself can't. But anyway, did you check out the Trace extension, does it bring any new to the table, or is this anti-fingerprinting stuff already covered by uBlock?

    @pegas,

The wiki info regarding Auto-update filter lists states that filter lists are automatically updated every 5 days by default, if there is no Expires directive or updateAfter attribute that rules otherwise.

The Update now button is available for use if and only if there is at least one filter list that is deemed outdated.

The Purge all caches button will reset the "last update" timestamp for all of the subscribed filter lists. Essentially, this will cause all filter lists to become out of date. This can be used to force an update of all filter lists.

@Stupendous Man Thanks for the thorough info! It's clear now. Though 5 days is too much compared to other ad blockers that update lists in hours automatically and/or manually by user as it suits. I will be clearing cache & updating lists daily.

I can imagine several filter lists are updated more often than once every 5 days, because of Expires directives or updateAfter attributes. I never checked the update frequencies for the different lists. Perhaps someone else can tell us how often certain list are updated.
To purge all caches and update all list daily is an option, of course.

Thanks for notifying, Stupendous Man. It wasn't updating despite my having purged multiple times so I went ahead and removed/installed it via the Mozilla store and restored my lists from backup.

I guess it would have updated sooner or later but it hasn't taken this long that I can remember.

    Hmm...
    They're doing fine here.
Maybe just ask the developer if you can't figure it out?
No, I haven't looked at it yet. But I don't care much about fingerprinting.
Firefox already has some protection against fingerprinters in strict mode.

Trace Chrome version hasn't been updated for a long time now. Not sure about the Firefox version.
