Facebook has started to encrypt links to counter privacy-improving URL Stripping.
uBO uses '$removeparam=' rules to combat this.
    Like:
    Code:
    $removeparam=fbclid

    (emphasis mine)

    :D

It applies to both Firefox and uBO with both their own URL stripping implementation.

I don't use Meta either, but the information may be useful for those who still insist to engage with it.

I don't have much experience with FB - Meta.
I tried logging in with my wife's social profile and it seems to me that there is still the fbclid parameter.

    Maybe a A/B test?

Or they reverted the decision after all the negative press (doubt it).

A vs B concerning how the URL is built up.
The old way with `?fbclid=`, or encrypted.

    I can't check here, because I don't use it.
Blocked with uBO, as well as system wide.

How is old thunderbird email these days. Its been ages it seems but I once for a time relied on TB when No Gambling Was Needed to use it. Firefox is my Windows 10 driver for it's browser. Practically air-tight and I like that.

i am running Becky! Mail since ages now without any loss or complications. it also can use plugins to extend some features, it can use themes (which means more "buttons"). just gambling around with v91 and now 102 to see whats happening. i use Mailwasher, Mailcheck v2 on another computer, i trial emClient from time to time and all do not need something like ublock. Firefox since phoenix ;) so really old history here. i refused to install or use Edge. But now it came mandatory as webview so i configured it like my chromium, both with ublock and also nothing of an issue visible, even not in sandboxie. buts that going to far away now, please keep on topic.

uBlock IS topic- as already mentioned no problems on this end with it but it's zapper gets a lot of clicks since websites I visit, mostly news are a pain in the you know what and will do everything to stick it in your face in spite of UBlock sometimes. I caught on to their layering upon layers over their sites to try to make it futile, but where there's a will there's a way.

In Chrome-based browsers, lists with CNAME trackers are steadily increasing.

And unfortunately uBlock Origin's uncloaking doesn't work on chromium based browsers.

Yes, I do use the C-NAME list in Firefox only and nearly all entries are in use. :thumb:

Question: Is anyone enabling Don Pollock's hosts file under Multipurpose? Any advantages versus without it? Peter Lowe's list does a great service for me, specifically in detecting iffy links via Yahoo website. But I don't know about the other one.

Also, and yes, this has been discussed already but things change over time. Under Malware domains, I just have the PUP domains one enabled, not the other two--as someone smartly pointed out that these malicious domains can change quickly. Anyone bothering with any of these?

I never used Dan Pollocks hostlist, but AFAIK it has a good reputation. Peter Lowe's small filterlist is excellent. I use it for some years in NextDNS. I'm not a fan of malware lists. I think that Google Safe Browsing (in FF) does a better job. It's more actual and relies on a large database.

never used it. for my money, pl's list is better than dp's, though i don't use it either. if i were to use a multipurpose list in ubo, i'd go with steven black hosts. but hey, just my two cents.

    i have them all disabled.

That Ublock Uncloaking was causing a DNS leak for me.

AFAIK a DNS leak can only be a problem if you use a VPN. You should see on a DNS-leak testsite only the server provided by the VPN service. I don't use a VPN. So I can't check your observation. I use NextDNS as DNS-server. It will always be shown on a DNS-leak testsite and that's o.k. No matter if uncloaking in uBlock Origin is enabled or not.

Steven Blacks hostlist is build with rules from many other lists, including Dan Pollocks list, you mentioned earlier. See https://github.com/StevenBlack/hosts.
