    When reading that Chromium bugreport, it appears to be closed.
    Does this mean that it is no longer "completely unreliable"? :doubt:

    [Edit]
    I see now related bug

    Glad I use Firefox most of the time.

    I don't see the setting "Use a prediction service to load pages quickly" any more in latest Chromium. :doubt:

    Evidently it is enabled and cannot be disabled.
    Try to check the experimental flags.

    There is also in LocalCDN and Decentraleyes.:thumb:;):)

    With Edge you can also set a policy that disables this feature:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/deployedge/microsoft-edge-policies#networkpredictionoptions

    You should also pay attention to "New tab".

    Ah... I found it now.
    LocalCDN already managed it here too. :)
    However, I don't know if it is reliable in case the page has declared: <link rel="prefetch"> (see the bug reports I mentioned).

    @nicolaasjan

    In firefox-based browsers I would personally use the internal settings in about:config or the UBO option which has been proven to be efficient.
    Then I would disable all other options with identical functionality in the various extensions.
    So LocalCDN,Decentraleyes,Trace........

    More difficult to make a correct decision in chrome-based browsers that have a basic prefetch always on.

    However certainly:

    • I would disable the option in the browser
    • I would uncheck the UBO functionality which has been proven to be unreliable.
    P.S.

    Personally since in all the browsers I use I install Decentraleyes/LocalCDN with the only purpose of saving bandwidth I would leave this option enabled in the extension.
    Obviously those who don't use these extensions don't have to install them like me just to use this feature with dubious performances in chrome-based browsers.

    LocalCDN = Firefox

    Decentraleyes = Chrome

    It would be interesting to ask the developer of LocalCDN about the functionality in Chrome.
    There is a webpage on Reddit and you are registered (I am not):

    https://www.reddit.com/r/LocalCDN/

    Much harder to get support from the developer of Decentraleyes.

    It is available for Chromium:
    https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/localcdn/njdfdhgcmkocbgbhcioffdbicglldapd

    There are indeed some incompatibilities:
    https://codeberg.org/nobody/LocalCD...can-i-use-this-extension-in-my-chrome-browser

    In the Chromium browsers I sometimes use, I still prefer it, because it supports much more frameworks and is updated more frequently. :)

    The uBO function does the same as the browser setting.
    That browser setting is in itself unreliable, because Google finds it necessary that website owners can bypass users privacy choices. :mad:

    Anyway, I have turned off the options in LocalCDN and uBO, but now the browser setting is still greyed out, because uMatrix turned it on.
    And I can't find the corresponding setting there (Google search was of no help)...

    This is no longer correct and actually irrelevant:

    1. In 2021 the 50k limit was raised to 150k (see the UPD at the bottom here).
    2. Various adblockers on iOS like AdGuard (Pro) bypass that restriction by installing several content blockers. AG, e.g., installs 6 content blockers for Safari. So even under the old limit up to 300,000 filters were possible, now theoretically up to 900,000 filters.
    3. Furthermore, AdGuard (Pro) also allows for DNS filtering by setting up a local VPN to not only control Safari but all apps on your device. You can use comprehensve filterlists therein. I'm using this list with about 300,000 network filters.

    So there are only 2 drawbacks:
    1. There is no Dynamic Filtering.
    2. The logger is not as powerful as in uBO as it only covers DNS filtering but not the Safari filters (the latter is obviously not possible on iOS).

    But back to uBock Origin ...

    For chrome-based browsers there is no hope.
    Instead the test shows that the functionality of UBO + Firefox is as reliable as believed.

    Yes sorry about that, I automatically assumed that you was talking about this new feature in uBlock, but I should have read better.

    So is HTTPS Everywhere. ClearURLs is not needed. just add the list to uBO.

    I have yet to find a website where this would cause an issue though. :doubt:
