How long does it generally take for the latest version to hit the various stores? A couple of weeks, or?

If I purge caches and hit "update" I've seen it take less time but this is not a consistent observation.

Cool, but is there really not any way to block video-ads on certain sites, I see that nobody responded, see first link. Also, it seems like uBlock blocks the correct loading of the second link, does anyone know why?

Yeah, OK, it's 1.40.0 now in Firefox. Good, that's a relief. Still 1.39.2 in Vivaldi.

    :cautious::)

Edit: Skip Redirect loads the AD social media page on your second link. No blocks from uBO here.

So you are getting to see all of the news about football transfers? On my system it stays blank, so nothing gets loaded. This happens on both Edge and Vivaldi, of course when uBlock is disabled it does load correctly.

i use Redirect Bypasser in any browser, but i get same site before
    Code:
    https://myprivacy.dpgmedia.nl/consent?siteKey=...
    i found this:
    https://www.openbugbounty.org/repor...o6qZl7yCvhvx18mTf_tc-1640456018-0-gaNycGzNCGU
    questionable!

the link itself is clean, copy and paste will go there directly in a new tab, but click is hijacked somehow. and its not wilders xenforo - i think, i found no evidence.
using firefox browsertools just tell me that the redirect is initiated from ad.nl
for the update, mood links always the changelog, so here
    https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/releases/tag/1.40.0
i dont see any critical issue so i dont see any urgent update.

    Cool, thanks alot, Brummelchen. :)

What is this referring to? Something about Rasheed's AD site redirecting you somewhere else?

redirect concerning some stats, tracking, whatever. its a server-side redirect because of missing cookies whatever. may only appear once if cookies were kept. "skip redirect" is not able to suppress server-side redirects.

Yes, Skip Redirect does not always work, that's true. But I discovered this can be browser-specific as well.

For example: Steam forums has a middleman (warning page) as a security measure when a user clicks on a link in a post. Under Firefox, Skip Redirect correctly skips this warning message and proceeds to the linked web-page. Doesn't happen in Vivaldi for some reason.

Lends credence to the observation that more ext. than uBlock Origin just work better in Firefox.

ScreenHunter_01 Dec. 29 22.29.gif The garbage pictured above appears on many websites. I run UBO pretty much as it came from the box. Is there a tweak that will get UBO to block that stuff?

With Edge it is better to install UBO from the Chrome Store.
    Version updates are faster.

Thanks guys, but to me it's still not clear whether you get to see the same as me, namely nothing gets loaded. I did try to use the uBlock logger, but couldn't figure out what caused this problem. I whitelisted googletagmanager.com and pexi.nl, but it didn't help. OMG, I'm an idiot. I just noticed that when I disable my own filters, it works again, so I must have blocked something with the element picker which was never a problem before on this site though.

Latest Ublock-beta 1.40.5b1 has a new function that may help you in the future:

OK now this would be cool. Because to tell the truth, it's way too difficult to figure this stuff out. Like I said, I disabled my personal filters which I somehow forgot to do earlier, and then it would work again, so what I did is I removed all entries to ad.nl, but the logger didn't give me any clue at all.

Well, for release channel uBO, Vivaldi is now current at 1.40.4. Firefox is still at 1.40.2 and I didn't see any entry on Firefox in mood's Jan. 1 post. So I'm guessing it's current as well--it's not a chromium browser anyway so it would be exempt.

Trying to get an idea of the time-gap between announcement of new version and the actual availability of the update of your uBO.
