    Only if I disable the AdGuard URL Tracking filter. Otherwise, clearing the cache brings it up to 555 out of 569 on here. :) Thanks for this great find (Clear URLs list).

    It would be interesting to know which of these types of lists to subscribe to.
    From what I understand some maintainers have subscribed only to:

    • Actually Legitimate URL Shortener Tool
    • ClearURLs for uBo - List extension

    so probably they have unchecked it:

    • AdGuard URL Tracking Protection

    It would be interesting to know the opinion of:

    @Mr. Raymond Hill and
    @Yuki2718.

    Yuki2718 announces EOL (Nov. 16, 2021) for:

    • AdGuard Tracking Protection Plus
    AdGuard Tracking Protection Plus: Since I now have direct write access to AdGuardFilters, there's already not much sense for me to maintain this list.

    We therefore recommend its removal.

    OK, well this is kind of important news-- better act on it. I have the non-Plus version and disabled it regardless (only half of the nearly 25K rules active anyway) and will see whether that affects anything (which I doubt). After all this purging and updating, I notice a name-change from "Block Access to LAN." Anyone familiar with this one?

    +1. do they overlap? (i'm sure they do overlap to some degree). which one(s) should ubo users go with? @gorhill

    After I did some changing and re-arranging, the amt. of rules dwindled to 8834 entries active out of 24,763 (AdGuard Tracking Protection which was then disabled again). What do you all think should be the lower limit for keeping a blocklist active?

    I also would be interested in what some authors have to say. It's kind of a dilemma, even if you're not particularly into browsing all over the place, but so far, there haven't been any problems with that blocklist disabled. I guess it's dependent on user behaviors online.

    for my money, active rules should be no less than two-thirds of total number of rules in a list.

    OK, that seems fair. Thanks, I'll keep it in mind. Usually, you can easily see which blocklists are under-utilized. In those cases, it seems some house-keeping is in order, right? AdGuard Tracking Protection had some other lists shouldering its burden a little too much--only 35% entries in active use. Off it went. :oops:

    I maintain a small "Grayware" blocklist of suspicious URLs based on my own personal filters, but I only include rules that aren't in any mainstream lists at the time. It's currently using 191/193 rules alongside all the recommended uBO lists. If I see the number of in-use rules go down, I delete any redundancies I find.

    I have reverted to the ClearURLs extension.
    When using the ClearURLs for uBO list and disabling the extension, I get a 'Redirect notice' page whenever I click on links from Gmail for example, which I do not get when using the extension.

    Well spotted, Paul. I've seen a similar thing when clicking a link in my browser too at YouTube, I think. I too have gone back to ClearURLs extension.

    You could instead open a report to the maintainers explaining your problem.:thumb:

    When I disable the list, there is no redirect notice in Gmail any more.

    I don't mind that notice, because I rarely click on links in mail.
    So I will keep ClearURLs disabled and the ClearURLs for uBO list enabled. :)

    As you said, it's best to report this behaviour at the GitHub repo. :thumb:

    The only other extension I use (besides uBO in Firefox) is Skip Redirect, for exactly this purpose (gmail). Works well and is highly unobtrusive. So yeah, went from 3 ext. to 2 with the ClearURLs list. But I can def. understand if one does not want to trade one extension for another. :thumb:

    Wow, interesting. Do you mind if I add this list? Thought I would ask first. :) Some links in Yahoo have the aggressive characteristics you describe.
