"Federal courts reported a 30 percent increase in authorized wiretaps in 2017, compared to 2016, and state courts reported an 11 percent rise, according to a newly released Judiciary report...

The 2017 Wiretap Report covers intercepts — of wire, oral or electronic communications — that were concluded between January 1, 2017, and December 31, 2017. The report, submitted annually to Congress by the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, does not include data on interceptions regulated by the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978...

No wiretap applications were reported as denied in 2017...

Portable devices, which include cell phone communications, text messages and apps, were targeted in 3,584 wiretaps—94 percent of all wiretaps concluded in 2017..."

Not surprised to hear about this because y'know this world is becoming more and more of a police state where the government knows everything about you for "protecting" you from so called terrorists. (Sarcasm) the government just wants complete surveillance over the citizens for more control and power for themselves under the guise of protecting us from so called terrorists and whatever boogie man they make up.

Maybe they don't bother with wiretap warrants for terrorists. Because, you know, they're terrorists!
