Thanks, mood. I wonder why he doesn't wait until after Patch Tuesday? I bet there will be another released in a few days.

New versions are often released on a Patch Tuesday. We'll see :)

Last time I ran this in default install mode, it crashed my PC and had to restore an image.

Thar's not good, but it does create a registry backup before doing repairs. You can restore the backup from a Command Prompt window, by booting in recovery mode.

Very impressive but I am still waiting for it to fix something.
    Perhaps the paid version might.

Well, I have good news and bad news.
The good news is it fixed things that have bothered me for months.
1- Can't customize notification area -FIXED
2- Windows update in start menu doesn't work -FIXED
3- Windows Photo View not working -FIXED
4- Adjust screen resolution in Control Panel doesn't work -FIXED
    Very impressive

Now the bad news- the mouse pointer is frozen in the middle of the screen. I have tried 3 mice so far and they all do the same thing.

I am dead in the water unless someone has an idea.

Heck I can't even do a restore and I have two backup drives ready to help.

    Rats.:(

Oh, a zillion reboots no change AND it's the same in safe mode.
I popped a CD for my backup program and apparently my computer doesn't see it. I try the one for Macrium Reflect next.
Oh do I regret doing what I did.

Can you navigate the machine by pressing the Windows key (you know, the one with the flag on it) and using the arrow keys to move around?

Let me try it and I'll get back. The computer is in another room. Also although the CD light comes on when I put a CD in it none of them seem to work.
Now I'm getting a complaint message from one of my programs and I am helpless without a mouse.
I will try your idea but have never done it before.

Here's the latest-- I went out to the back shed and came up with a wired mouse (remember them?)
The pointer was still stuck in the middle of the screen BUT all of a sudden it started working.
So I am back in business except I will have to see what the story on the CD drive is all about.
I couldn't accomplish much with the Windows key-sorry.
Oh yes, there is no wheel on the mouse but it beats nothing.

Yeah but not as old as this one. It is a Microsoft mouse but I need something more modern
Any advice? I'll go to Newegg and order it before I go to bed.
Thanks for bearing with me everyone.
One more thing - I really can't blame Windows Repair for the problem with the mouse because it was acting squirrely when I began to run the program but it wasn't stuck in the middle of the screen.
I'm impressed with the program, since I had planned to do a repair install tomorrow.

I just use any mouse at all that has a scroll wheel.. I have no preference really.

I've never had any problems using Windows Repair on the machines I have run it on and it's good to know it sorted out the issues you were have on your machine.

I am happy that all seems to be fine

All the problems that I had, I could not get answers from Google with the exception of Picture Viewer. I substituted Vue Print which was fine but is now off my computer.

Thanks for sticking with me stapp.

When booting up, All I got was a black screen reading Sata0 found. Next line read Sata1 found and that's all.

In that case, it sounds like you would have needed to boot from a recovery drive.
