I think there are a few nice threads for this down in our linux forum. You will get better participation there. I am not a Mint user but there are tons who are down there. Mint is a good choice and to some extent Linux is linux. What you are wanting to do is very simple so read a few of the threads and then ask if you get stuck. Lots of Mint folks.
Palancar, I am so very sorry to keep bugging you. I followed this walk through to a tee (http://www.itninja.com/blog/view/create-a-bootable-encrypted-usb-running-linux-mint-16) to install Linux Mint with FDE on my USB Flash Drive. When I get to the final installation step, halfway through it gives an error message that the installer crashed. This happens everytime.
