Truecrypt file size problem

    I created a truecrypt 60GB volume in a file container, mounted it, and it seemed fine. Windows showed 60GB of free space. I then went on to add 22GB files to this volume. After the copy, Windows shows this volume to have a free space of 23GB, i.e. my files for some reason now occupy 37GB of space. I can understand encryption may require some kind of an extra padding, but 15GB of padding... that doesn't sound right. any ideas?
