The documentation for TI 8's networking is sparse to none. I need to find out if TI8 can connect via FTP or NFS.

More generally what type of networking connections does True Image support? I'm talking about the Linux based bootable media, not the Windows side of the house.

Here's the issue. We are mostly using TI to backup and restore Linux and Windows clients on VME single slot computers. Right now this is done with portable external CD drives and TI has been a godsend.

We'd like to host images on excess storage on one of the servers in the system. The servers are Linux based (RH7.3) and are running ftpd and nfsd. So the question really becomes, can TI connect via FTP or NFS? And does networking restore work when booting to the Recovery Manager?

Before anyone says to use SMB, that is absolutely not an option. This system is a Navy training system and the paperwork, time, and money to add an unscheduled engineering change to the system is insane. The politics will make sure the proposal dies in engineering meetings.

Hope someone has a happy answers for me.

    thanks,
    K. Sommer

    Hello kasommer,

Thank you for your interest in Acronis Disk Backup Software.

We regret to inform you that Acronis True Image 8.0 and Acronis True Image 9.0 do not support FTP and NFS. They support only TCP/IP protocol.

However, we would like to note that FTP and NFS support will be probably implemented in the future server versions of Acronis True Image.

If you have any further questions please feel free to ask.

    Thank you.

Yes, you are right. Acronis Bootable Rescue Media uses SMB/CIFS network protocol.

    Thank you.
