I have just upgraded to Version 2. Looks great so far.

    Two questions:

    1) I want to exclude SMC.EXE (Sygate Personal Firewall) from being scanned by AMON. I have entered the path\filename as an excluded file, but AMON continues to scan. Any suggestions?

    2) I seemed have lost the ability to initiate a file scan by right clicking. I notice that this question was asked by someone else, so I will check for a response to that question.

Very happy so far with V2.

    Thanks Eset!

Just auto-updated to latest version. AMON also refuses to recogise my exclusion list. Fix it, guys. :)

Hmmm. I recall having the same problem with the betas. I wrongly assumed that it was fixed. It's not fixed and NOD still ignores my one and only exclusion.

(I had totaly forgotten about this problem, as I have learned to turn AMON off when I needed to use that program.)

    forgot to mention.....

I also tried excluding an entire directory that contains the primary file I need excluded. That didn't work either. So, it ignores file AND directory in exclusions. This was working in the last beta but has gone goofy in the release. I am not having problems with the right-click scan like the OP.

    Phil,

I tried to exclude a directory also. Right-click is also working just fine here.

Thanks, Marti. I'm glad to see it's not only me having a problem for a change. Erm-- I don't mean I'm glad you're having a problem, I mean -- aw, heck -- you know what I mean. :D

  10. Hello all.

I am having the same problem under Windows XP SP1 with the new NOD32 v2 final release.

The funny thing is that it WAS working under Beta 5. I exclude my email program (Eudora) from AMON otherwise it runs a lot slower. (Yes it does scan the mailboxes javascript:replaceText(' ;)') )

    Seems to be a bug.

I've got the same problem here. Noticed it when I put a couple of programs in exclude but made no difference. It worked in beta 5. Hope they're aware of this. Once fixed this new version will ROCK!!

Really, the exclude feature is not functioning in v2. We will have to fix this.

I'd appreciate if you (the people around here) can write a list of program name/s for which the Exclude feature was needed and why it was needed.

    Thanks, :)

I'm running Win98SE and Trojan Hunter Live Update slows down and hangs if AMON is running. Therefore, I want to exclude the complete Trojan Hunter directory.

The simple and succinct answer is because I want to. :D

The more responsive reply is as follows. The majority of the programs I want to exclude are other protection software. I will not list the programs on a public forum for obvious reasons. Some of these execute every ten seconds, some once a second, and others more often than that. Once they have been initially approved, I don't need my AV checking every execution because it might impede their function. I have other schemes to assure those exe's and/or DLLs have not been tampered with since installation. I simply don't need my AV checking one exe 86,400 times in a 24 hour period. Talk about redundancy! I also use the AMON file check numbers as a sort of double-check for unusual file activity. If it is loaded with 100,000 or 200,000 checks, that becomes an impossibility. There are other reasons but those are primary. I need the exclusion option to work.

Any idea when this will be fixed, Jan? Thanks for your help!

The only reason I ever use the exclude feature for is when TRUSTED programs take forever to load or don't run properly while being scanned.

    My list id:

    BoClean
Zoom Player (takes 30 seconds to load if scanned)
Collapse (game) (game doesn't run smoothly if scanned)
Any other TRUSTED software which shows signs of being impeded or drastically slowed down by AMON scanner.

Hope you fix this soon ( :mad:my wife's starting to nag me!)

    I like to exclude:

an imagefile created by Ghost(about 650Mb)
    firewall directory (Kerio Personal Firewall)

    That's all,

    See ya :D

    Hi,

    >Any idea when this will be fixed, Jan? Thanks for your help!

I can imagine the delays caused by the checking of the files and by other causes are not very welcomed,:) so it's pretty high priority - the people here are informed - so I believe it won't take long - a couple of days.

    Thx., :)

Thank you for your quick response on this, Jan! As it is, I am running with AMON disabled and I certainly don't want to operate very long in that mode.

    Again, thanks!!

One suggestion if I may add to this thread, can we apply excludes in the fixed version of NOD32 v2 to "upon access" but still scan the file during scheduled or on-demand scans? See the thread below for a possible example, which might be to exclude a specific DLL or directory:

    Hi all,

while working on the Exclusion issue - pls. send the files that cause serious conflict with NOD to support@eset.com with a subject "Exclusion" and with a short description what a conflict/false alarm is hapenning with that file (how does it behave).

We will fix it as fast as we can in this pretty busy situation.

    Thanks for the patience. :)

FYI, the file exclusion is required not only to avoid conflicts with specific files, but for other reasons too.

For instance, we need to stop AMON scanning files loaded from a whole folder tree used by our mail server (WorkgroupMail). The mail server then uses the nod32.exe command-line scanner as and when required.
