Troj revop A

I have scanned with housecall it is picking up Troj REVOP.A.
I have run AD-AWARE and then HIJACK THIS per your instructions for another user. Here is my log.

Welcome to Wilders.

Before you start, please unzip or move HijackThis to a separate folder of its own. The program will make backups to the folder it's in. These easily get lost in a temporary folder or a folder with other programs.

Check the following items in HijackThis.
Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {227B8AA8-DAF2-4892-BD1D-73F568BCB24E} - c:\program files\mcafee.com\mps\mcbrhlpr.dll (file missing)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ETHN] C:\WINDOWS\System32\ETHN.exe

There also may be hidden files. See HERE for how to show hidden files.

Then reboot into safe mode and delete:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\ETHN.exe

Reboot and then post a fresh HijackThis log along with a description of whatever your problem is if it has not been fixed..

Thank you for the prompt reply -- really really thank you. I was getting ready to follow your instructions and noticed several lines with McAfee in them. I uninstalled McAfee last year as my account had become compromised. I now have Zone Alarms and Pest Patrol. Should I remove the lines with McAfee?

If you have removed McAfee thru the Add or Remove Programs Control Panel, then yes. If not, then remove it first and then you can fix any leftover entries with HJT. If you have already removed it, then after you fix those with HJT, then delete the following:
C:\Program Files\McAfee.com\

Hi Kent,

So you are not only technically smart, but you give excellent instructions also! After restarting in Safe Mode, I did not find a file C:\Windows\System32\ETHN.exe. Should I be concerned?

It may be awhile before I know if I still have any problems as I occassionally got a black screen with a fatal error message that filled the page. I did the Housecall scan again and it was clean. My Internet connection was much faster as well as program loads on my security software.
