Rumors circulating around for some time now. No sense in adding to them, but its interesting to read about. In general one large issue must have been all the other stuff they promoted on their site. Had they been email only I suspect they would still be in operation.
I've heard that they went bankrupt. But it might also be that some of their customers attracted too much attention, and it became impossible to retain clearnet gateways and peering. Or maybe an adversary took them down.
