Tor Project removes relays because of for-profit, risky activity

    So they removed the feature that wanted TOR to be as anonymous as possible.
    Besides, the TOR knew what they were used for? That hints about the "anonymity".

    It seems to me that Tor project is doing the right thing and the argument about the vagaries and disadvantages of commercial links potentially ruining the integrity of a voluntary network that relies on an adherence to a particular philosophy and agreement (informal or formal) to achieve agreed 'ends', is a sound one.
    Criminals and 'users' with no moral compunction, always jump to take advantage of a good willed, well intentioned and generous, opening that is meant for the betterment of all.
    Parasites have broken the heart of the Internet, these 'grifters' would look to find niches of further opportunity to take advantage in Heaven itself.

    As someone that spends several hours a day on TOR this is welcome news.
