Same here. In the 2 years that I have used LV programs, I have never saved the changes. Maybe a file here and there but not the whole session. Bo
Light virtualization programs like Returnil don't need updating as frequently as some other kinds of programs. It is not uncommon for new products to have frequent releases as they add features to the initial version. As products mature and most essential features have already been added, the pace of development tends to slow. This is normal and doesn't indicate that the developer has abandoned the product. That said, Returnil System Safe 2012 is in beta test at the moment.
I agree, it seems this team still live, but it is same as Powershadow, SD, no any update on their website for a long time. If you compare them with their competitors like Wondershare, icafe8, you will know what should a real company look like. Wondershare got 15M USD investment last year and is preparing for their IPO in Nasdaq. ICafe8 got 100M USD in it's IPO in china. Any good news with the Returnil or SD or Powershadow in the past 3 years? There are some interesting things to share. If you know Tony can not support his family with his product, you will know why he hide himself and why he does not want to make any update or support for his project. As he said in some forum, he even could not pay for a digital code sign with hard working.
To all Toolwiz Time Freeze users concerned with MBR Protection, strongly recommend the excellent image clarified that dax123 shows in this post. So they are definitely elucidated that light virtualization is not MBR virtualization! Like I posted in that topic: "Once, in general, light virtualization software virtualizes your OS and your system drive - it doesn't virtualize MBR! Some can use 'tricks' to protect MBR but doesn't virtualize MBR! Such was not well understood when some liked to say A is better than B because can protect MBR virus, etc.; some, not all...; tricks are tricks, not core engine."
I try this new version on my Win8Pro 64bit and seems working good, I have tried some programs changes virtualizes as flash beta, chrome ... and everithing is ok, at restart no sign of the changes so .. is working
This is a very nice program that keeps getting better and better after each new release, I hope development doesn't stop. I have it on W7, works really nice. Bo
Not necessary because of this below, but we hope http://forums.toolwiz.com/topic/toolwiz-bhorm-is-open-source-project-now
Does toolwiz timefreeze work well with sanboxie? I just started with toolwiz a week now and I really like it. And today for the first time I experimented with sandboxie and I am gradually liking it. (The only thing I really miss in toolwiz timefreeze is folder exclusion)
It does. Even though, normally, I don't use both programs at the same time as I only use TTF for trying programs, I have never had anything like an issue when I open any sandboxed program or browser while using TimeFreeze. They work great together in my W7 32bits. Bo
Thanks for the info! I wanted to try how system-wide virtualization works and started with Toolwiz. I now switched to Shadow Defender. And during the testing period of Toolwiz with Sandboxie I indeed didn't have any problems.
Tried the newest release on my machine, and once again, I consider myself lucky to finally get it to boot.......Damn, this software hates my particular machine, or maybe, my machine hates this software. Either way, it's a shame as I would like to use it.
DBone, just an idea that you might want to try if you haven't. Whitelist the TTF process in Exe Radar before enabling protection. When I tried Exe Radar, I whitelisted the process immediately after installing the anti executable and before enabling protection by TTF. I am not using ERP but it worked fine with TTF when I tried it. Bo
Thanks bo, I probably should have been more clear, but when I installed TF on my machine, it was after a re-image to my clean install state, and was the first and only software installed. I never even got to install other software because after the initial reboot, my machine would brick. It's obviously something specific with my machine as I seem to be one of only a very few to have problems. Too bad cause it looks good!
functionally and feature wise what is the difference between Toolwiz Time Freeze and Shadow Defender?
Shadow Defender can contain sophisticated malware infections like the TDSS/TDL family of rootkits within its buffer and get rid of such infections with a simple reboot. The real system is never compromised as the infection is limited to the virtual environment only. No other light virtualization program can offer this safety net against sophisticated malware, apart from DiskShot - which is a new and relatively untested program and is only available in Korean language at the moment. The latest version of Shadow Defender also includes a RAM buffer option for the virtual system. For people with a lot of RAM this is ideal as the virtual system will reside in RAM with all the benefits of speed this entails. It is also good for sensitive data as the RAM buffer will be flushed after rebooting, making sure that any personal critical data is not recoverable even with forensic recovery applications. Toolwiz TF offers no such options and overall security.

Just been using this software with no problems...which is good after getting BSOD's on another similar product that i really wanted to use but couldnt. Nice clean tool. I wonder what happens when Windows Defrag kicks in every wednesday and i'm using TF ? Might pay to turn off the auto defrag ?? Just need to figure out how to set up my important updates and i'm rolling...assuming no conflicts with Comodo CIS..
@javahole Turn off the auto defrag. Do all your defrag and software updates/upgrades when you're not in virtual mode.
