    Hi!

I installed the TI Home 2009 Trial in order to backup my C: partition. I have 5 HDD's and 9 partitions on my computer. Windows XP SP3 - german.

After I start TI 2009 it starts scanning my partitions, the only thing I see is the splash screen for about one and a half hour!!
During this time, the event log receives lots of errors. The errors are always the same and during this time the whole pc is not very responsive:

13:11:54 - Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for a transaction response from the ShellHWDetection service
13:11:24 - Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for a transaction response from the dmserver service
13:10:54 - Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for a transaction response from the ShellHWDetection service
13:10:24 - Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for a transaction response from the dmserver service
13:09:54 - Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for a transaction response from the ShellHWDetection service
13:09:24 - Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for a transaction response from the dmserver service
    ......
    ...

After about one and a half hour TI 2009 starts and I can see all partitions in the application. When I try to make a backup, Acronis creates the task and starts it, but I get the same errors in the eventlog and nothing happens (yesterday I gave up after 1 hour).

I noticed, that after I start TI 2009 I'm unable to use the Disk Management in the Control Panel of WindowsXP (Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Disk Management). However I can use the Disk Management before I start TI 2009.
I checked all disks with chkdsk!

    EDIT:
I just tried to create a report with Acronis Report utility. I get the same errors in the eventlog and nothing happens.

I updated all my chipset drivers.

    Can anyone help me?

I would disconnect all the drives except for the one that has the C partition and try again.

Try shutting off your antivirus before starting Acronis.

Check in Services that the following services are started:

Logical disc management (which is dmserver service)
Plug and Play (is required to be started for Logical disc management to run)
Shell Hardware Detection (which is ShellHWDetection service)

if they are not started, set them to auromatic and restart the PC.

All services were running but I've found the cause!

I disconnected and reconnected my HDD's and checked if TI was able to run. After I disconnected my new Samsung EcoGreen HD154UI (1500GB) no more errors appeared in the event log and TI ran like a charm.

However I don't know what caused the error, Windows XP, my SATA Controller or the HDD....

    Update:
I used ESTOOL (Samsung HDD Support Utility) to set the MAX UDMA MODE to 150, it was set to 300. Now everything works! No more eventlog errors and TI works as expected.
