I had missed updates since version 78.13.0 (my bad). I looked in the thread for updates for the 78.xx branch.
I could only find this post from mood about the portable version of 78.14.0.
And I found this post from Ron in the other thread.
In case anyone is interested, the release notes for 78.14.0 from 7 Sept 2021 are here:
    https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/78.14.0/releasenotes/
For those interested the following quote from there:
PS: maybe it was already posted; in that case my apologies.

Does anyone know what is happening with version 78.15.0 ?
In the release notes for 78.14.0 they wrote that 78.15.0 was scheduled for 5 Oct 2021. See my reply # 408
    Is it cancelled or delayed?
    Thanks.

I don't think there will be a 78.15. I have 78.14 installed and About Thunderbird shows the following. I'm waiting for the portable to test before updating.

Thanks Adric. Maybe they changed their plans; I don't know.
I get the same in 78.14 as in your screenshot.

But why would an email client need a search engine in the first place at all?
An email client is an email client, and should be nothing more than that.
So, why a search engine in an email client?
