I recently upgraded to V4 and noticed that the mail notification icon does not disappear when the mail is read in Thunderbird.
To confirm this behavior started with V4, I reinstalled V3 and sure enough, the problem goes away.
    Anyone else notice this?

    Hello AbbyJack,

Open your ESET Smart Security and press F5 to enter the Advanced setup window. From there go to Miscellaneous -> Email client integration and uncheck Integrate into Mozilla Thunderbird. Then click OK to save your change.

    Thank you,
    Richard

I also get the same problem. It appears to leave multiple copes of Thunderbird.exe open which have to be Killed from the task manager.

Are you saying the only solution is to turn Email Client Integration off?

Surely that just stops the antispam module from working?

    Hello,

Your email will be scanned even when unchecking Integrate into Mozilla Thunderbird. It should resolve this issue.

    Thank you,
    Richard

Hi thanks for your reply but I think you may misunderstand what I meant.

Unchecking Integrate into Mozilla Thunderbird does indeed stop the problem but it also turns off the antispam feature.

I know it still scans the message for viruses but I wanted to be able to use the anti spam feature in thunderbird as well.

Is there likely to be a fix for this problem that doesn't require you to remove the anti spam module for thunderbird?

    Hello JackSun,

Doing this should take away the feature with the tool bar but it should not disable the antispam from still doing its job. Have you verified that antispam no longer works. We can test this if that is the case.

    Thank you,
    Richard

Well the toolbar has gone and I am no longer seeing any messages marked with the [SPAM] tag in the ESET antispam folder.
Addresses that I had previoulsy marked as Spam are now appearing in my inbox. So, I assume it is no longer working?

Disabling integration with an email client will also disable spam protection in this client.

I hope this gets fixed soon. When it was working it was very useful.
