As part of the upgrade self-check performed by Thunderbird before downloading and installing Version 5, the ESET Smart Security Extension 4.2.71.2 will be disabled until made compatible with the newer version of Thunderbird.

    1. Will ESET be issuing an update and, if so, is there an expected date of completion?

    2. How will the disabling of the add-on affect email and spam protection?

    3. How will Mozilla's rapid-release upgrading system for Thunderbird from here on forward be handled by ESET's extension's future compatibility, and should it be a concern?

For now, of course, I will stay with my current version of Thunderbird, as email spam and virus protection ALWAYS trumps any gains from upgrading my email client. ;-)

Hi, until an official statement is made regarding compatibility, please reference this Wilders thread for current information related to your question.
