    Thanks for the update.
Once again seems like EAM engine plays an important role in signature detection. (I always though IKARUS did almost all the hard work signature wise, seems like i was wrong) :D :thumb:

  12. With Zemana, DefenseWall, or Malwarebytes complimenting your AV -- whatever it is... you are in good shape.

I'm already in touch with Sveta regarding this. Apparently a detection for one file was added in the update that we started building a few minutes before the tester downloaded the file. However, this threat as well as FakeAV was detected by other ESET's scanners without the need to update. That said, it's not that our users would be completely unprotected and that the malware could do its jobs silently until an update with the detection added was issued. I've also suggested to shorten the interval in which samples are re-scanned; knowing the scan results after one hour would help users better understand how quickly AV companies react than if samples are first re-scanned after 6 hours.

Based on this and the latest AV Test why would anyone in there right mind use MSE. Gezz.

  20. MS has many advantages but mainly because it's free. People don't want to pay for AV software if they can get away with it. But it shouldn't be doing this bad in tests, they have access to the source code FFS. No one else has that. Until MS get's serious about malware and invest some very serious money into it, it will continue to be a problem.

I don't believe in paying for any software. Never mind an antivirus. There is so much free software out there which is just as good as paid. MSE advantage just isn't cause its free but I understand your point. Avast,AVG,Avira and Panda Cloud are all free with superior protection then MSE. Why does Microsoft release such a product that cannot even defend there own OS? Do we put our soldiers in armor and weapons that are less effective then others? Or wont protect them? No. Does a cop wear a bullet proof vest so he can be shot? Just doesn't make sense. I have seen more infected pc's running MSE then anything. I know those YouTube videos are meaningless but if you do watch some on MSE it doesn't even blink an eye.

When MSE first appeared, it scored in the mid 90% in AV-Comparative testing. There was a lot of hope that Microsoft would continue improving it and make it an elite AV. Unfortunately, they have not.

    they just don't.... care.
MSE engine is from an external company that didn't made good AVs, just look at Windows Defender, as anti spyware being bundle since XP still an ineffective piece of junk.

Regardless of anyone's personal feelings about the legitimacy of any one test (or set of tests)...there is really no excuse to continue using a "solution" which has proven inadequate when there are so many free and paid alternatives available to anyone willing to do just a modicum of homework.

SUPERAntiSpyware should be removed from all tests, I think it will never be better. :(
