My son is 12 years old and he made his first program yesterday. He has been using a program named leopard and he loves it. It's a beginner program for programming. No this is not a sales pitch. :) I thought I would share this becuase who knows he might another security programmer out there helping others. He is getting a little frustrated about how he can make a cd player to play CDs from the CD ROM but I told him to keep trying and I'm sure he can do it. :)

That's wonderful notageek, you sound very excited.

Like father, like son. I'm sure you're setting a fine example.

Your positive input for him to keep trying is good support, kudo's on your behalf.

I'll share a little something with you ;). When I struggled in my early days, my Mom would say to me,
"The birth of awareness is not without pain". Still applies today! :D

    Best of Luck

Have you signed him up here at Wilders yet? ;)

Who knows, one day you may be able to sit back, relax and watch son write the ultimate proggy that everyone will "have to have".

    Thanks everyone.

He isn't about getting online he's all about programming right now. He told me this evening that his goal in life is to program an OS that will blow M$ out the water. I told him keep up the good work and he will some day make it. I am so proud of him. He's been playing with this program for about 4 days and already made a program. He told me tonight that he has a few programs he has on his computer that he made. He showed me and I was like "WOW". I knew he was into this but I just didn't think he was going to be learning so fast. I took a look at Leopard and it is easy but I'm older with a little more exp. with this type of stuff but to see my 12 year old son pick up the program and strt making programs right away is great.

I'll keep everyone informed on how it goes. Who knows in afew years he might be the youngest person that makes an OS. ;) ANd he said " Dad if I make it and become rich you and mom will never have to work hard again." That made me teary eyed when he said that. Well enough babbling for now. :)

This was the first "batch file" I wrote, Haven't written anything since. Got all wrapped up in other things. Try to help him stay focused.

Cochise, Yes indeed. I caught on to that when he told me. I made joke comment and said "what you mean I still have to work and he said well sure." LOL
