    Exactly.
I presume that if "edge" is not present you must create it and then insert the key.
The insertion of the key, causes as I have already written, what is highlighted in the image below:

    Hi everyone,

Trying to use Edge at work and want to secure it a bit more. All I have done is enable these two flags. What else can or should be done to improve overall security?

    Thanks in advance.

Great pick-up, imdb--yes, that is the feature. Sheesh, Micro, a little late there, no? :cautious:

Thanks also to mood for posting this info. It MAY lure me back to Edge sometime down the road but there's no rush.

@Bertazzone: if you recall your confirmation that Edge currently doesn't have the capability for a user to self-create login passwords and have Edge store them, well post #954 reports it's now in the testing phase. What do you think? I mean, for those who use a third party Password Manager, this could be more bloat but those like me could use this actually.

I don't use Edge as my regular browser, but I needed to update it on my computers.
For some reason, Bitdefender started complaining about Edge.

    A critical warning.

    Online Threat Prevention
msedge.exe attempted to establish a connection relying on an untrusted certificate to api.edgeoffer.microsoft.com. We blocked the connection to keep your data safe since untrusted certificates are issued by unrecognized Certificate Authorities.

    What's going on with Edge?

Well on latest v97.0.1072.54 (Official build) beta (64-bit) for Linux, it looks like edge wants to go shopping, even though I have that all disabled:

    edge shopping.png

...I'll see if this rule doesn't break anyhting:

    deny owner "/home/*/.config/microsoft-edge-beta/Edge Shopping/*/" rw,

Wow, doesn't take much to turn me off contemplating putting Edge back on here. That shopping feature smells like a hidden cash grab. No thanks, again.

    If you are using Windows...;)

    Two reasons:
    1. Netflix streaming content
    2. More secure, arguably I guess, than Firefox (notice I didn't say more private).
And with Apparmor I have the advantage of taming some of that telemetry bloat:

    deny owner "/home/*/.config/microsoft-edge-beta/Edge Shopping/*/" rw,
    deny owner "/home/*/.config/microsoft-edge-beta/Diagnostic Data" rwk,
    deny owner "/home/*/.config/microsoft-edge-beta/Diagnostic Data-wal" rw,

Lots of it can still be disabled easily under Settings.

App Armor is the watered down SELinux. You can read about both in wikipedia.

    Question for @Sampei Nihira

last night (in my time zone anyway) you mentioned in another thread extension policies available for Edge. i take it these will only be available in Pro or Enterprise Windows versions?

It does not depend on the OS version.
It's simple, enter the registry key with the correct values at the same path where you entered the registry key to enable the appcontainer renderer.

here's a quick tip on how to block edge's new tab page. run cmd as administrator and execute the following command:
    Code:
    echo 0.0.0.0 ntp.msn.com >> %SystemRoot%\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
that's it. it just adds this line (0.0.0.0 ntp.msn.com) to your hosts file.
