Trying to update Edge resulted in failure several times with an additional failure to open the MS Store. Tried every fix I could find for the Store and no dice. "Hopefully" they're related errors and this'll sort itself out eventually..I'll keep trying periodically.

What about ofline installer?

 

OK, it was downloading via the offline installer link, anon, when the UI disappeared. I also had the update checker going in the Edge, and suddenly it updated. It appeared successful but I was getting a weird shaking page in the "whal's new in Edge" slideshow.

I uploaded a brief video clip on Malwaretips as I've never seen this before. I wonder if others have experienced it themselves.

I've bookmarked that link, appreciate it.

 

I am getting the firewall error as well. I just plan to wait.

A lot of people are having this problem that Edge will not update to version 90 today.
Hopefully, Microsoft has noticed that and will fix it for all of us.

I have heard of four options you can try.

• retry a few minutes later, that option worked for me.
• restart your system and the update gets installed.
• terminate Microsoft Edge Update service using Task Manager, close the browser and then relaunched it.
• download the offline installer from here: Download Microsoft Edge for Business - Microsoft

Or like Woody and Gunther advised, just wait.

Updated to .42, took only a few seconds. Edge is back to normal, yay!

I would love to know what the heck happened two versions ago with the update servers. Haven't read about any cause, yet.

 

Could be related to the Major BGP Leak that happened around the same time the EDGE update issues happened.

After I tried to update Win 10 1909, Edge somehow got installed. So I have checked out Edge v89 and I'm not really impressed. How to disable the stupid homepage with MSN news?

Thanks, I was able to disable it. I've checked out Edge 89 a bit more and it's not that bad. I will use it purely for testing.
