    Cruise,
Thanks much. That is what I am hoping for because I use mSSD as well. Is TRIM enabled on yours in shadow mode and thanks.

    Hi Gary,

Yes, TRIM is enabled (all of the time) on my notebook.

    Hey Cruise,

Thanks for that outstanding news! With the state of freedom in the PROC I don't think we will ever know (believe) what happened with SD and 'Tony', but in any case SD-development is (somehow) continuing! :thumb:

I emailed Tony and asked him 2 questions that only he would know. I have know him since the start. I have yet to get a answer, which with him, takes time. But without the answers I would at least say, that what is currently transpiring at SD has nothing to do with a good friend that supposedly started it.;)

But if I hear anything of course it will be posted here. Now I am not implying good or bad about the current SD and what is going on, just about TonyCN.

In a big departure for me I'm not using SBIE as my main protection for now. AppGuard with SD caching in RAM for now. Working well I have to say.

Will need to see how it goes as I usually get a bit nervous without SBIE on patrol. I might end up using both SBIE with the container in a RAM disc as well as SD caching the other system stuff to RAM as well. Not sure, but for the first time in a while I feel I have options.

    Cheers

    Chris,
Thanks again and that is news that for now, no SBIE. But glad to hear about SD and looking forward to more news on it and trying it myself soon.

Regarding memory cache setting, with a laptop that has Win 7 Pro 64 bit and 12 MB of ram, what would you recommend a good setting for SD cache? I am thinking of 4096 MB, but not sure.

The forum is now closed, there was a forum software bug that occured when Tony was away (choked the forum so I could not input in certain areas) and the forum collapsed when I was under pressure trying to remove hundreds of spammers joining in droves and posting child porn photos and threats each day.
Tony told me recently that he does not have an intention of restarting it just now.

Gary, that sounds like overkill to me. but I would guess it depends on the number (and size) of drives/volumes being protected with Shadow Mode (and perhaps some other factors). I just protect my C-partition and I'm going with a RAM cache of 1000 MB.

I believe Patrick was referring to whomever is now representing himself as Tony. ;)

:) When I write to Tony, I use his Shadow Defender email and the replies that I get come from there. The person I get replies from "feels" like the person that I'm familiar with although I have no proof or hard evidence. His "manner" is pretty much as it always has been but I don't know him intimately as a personal friend. I asked him after his "return" to make a statement to the forum and explained why that would be a good idea but (as I posted a while back) he said he got dizzy after reading a page of English and that it was time consuming and difficult for him. As I've said in earlier posts, if we see this software progress and receive adaquate support then we can probably say that it is him. I do not get the impression that he is a man that is making a lot of money and he is (as far as I know) a non English speaker, "one man show" and that's why I tend to give him the benefit of the doubt and that is not even taking into account any personal problems that he might have.

Maybe we will gain more insight into this if and when trjam gets a reply to his email. In any case this latest release has me feeling good. :D

After having to abandon SD .320, .325 and .331 because they each BSOD'd my new notebook (with mSSD), I am now most definitely in the Happy Camper Club!

Does anyone use Internet Download Manager(IDM) while 'C' Partition is in shadow mode?IDM stores it download information in windows registry. How do you manage IDM with SD?It poses a big problem when downloading large files which most of the time requires resuming support?Do you use SD on demand (or) You come out of Shadow mode and download large files with IDM(or) Export and import registry entries of IDM whenever you want to resume downloads in shadow mode?

I see that some users are just happy with the new program...I see that there was nothing more important than the new capabilities...no doubt, no questions?... just "there is the program - it's OK"? All this is sad... it's sad that Wilders have no skepticism, that they don't ask "why and how", "honestly and properly - or not?". Is it enough to give what is expected and everything will be fine? :(

Patrick - can you ask Tony from where is there such close similarity and affinity between SD and YesShield?

    Hi Gary,

I have a similar set-up only with Win 8 Pro x 64 and 4 gig is what I'm using for the RAM write cache.

I appreciate I may never need that much but the other apps in my set-up barely scratch the surface of the remaining RAM so I'm happy enough with the thought SD will never/very rarely have to write to the disc.

If (more likely when) I bring SBIE back in I'll split that 4 gig between the RAM disc and the write cache.

    Cheers

You have every right to be suspicious. You have every right to ask how do we know it is Tony and how do we know someone isn't just ripping off his code.

I also have the right to ask how do I know it isn't Tony.

I would not use YesShield for example without confirmation that Tony or whoever now owns Shadow Defender had passed on the code legitimately.

However I'm downloading SD from the same site/vendor as I've always done. The identity and credentials of that vendor we may never know but if the software does what it says it does why not use it, I've paid for it after all.

I'd be disappointed if something untoward had happened to Tony and the new offering is provided through criminal or opportunistic activity. In fact I'd likely stop using it. However we have no facts and without them I'll continue to use the product I've paid for on the version that suits me best.

    Cheers

I think Tony is back. New SD version works like a charm. Who else could make it so flawless if not Tony? Shadow Defender:thumb:
