It is true version 22 how been around a while but there have been many dot releases since then, so it's not like it isn't being developed. My biggest gripe with Norton is the pop ups and them pushing their browser extensions.
Norton only uses Windows Defrag and Optimize Disks tool, which automatically detects the SSD so does not defrag it. https://www.nortonlifelockpartner.c...turn-it-off-did-the-optimization-harm-my-ssd/
I just received this popup. Cleaning just two registry errors will not improve performance. Even if it had found thousands of registry errors, cleaning them also wouldn't improve performance, except in exceptionally rare cases. Norton Utilities is not useless and in some cases can improve performance, but usually not from cleaning the registry.
Norton Security 22.22.3.9 has been released but no release notes as yet. As always, these updates are phase released so you may not get it right away.
Right click the tray icon > Open My Norton. That's where you'll find it once you receive it. You're not really missing anything anyway.
Roger, I just did a clean install of N360 after downloading from www.norton.com/cspn360, which gives you v22.21.11.46, then ran Live Update which gave me the option to apply a patch now, or later. I always find restarting my machine is far more reliable at applying patches than applying now. It took three runs of Live Update / system restart, then another patch before my machine was updated to the latest version. I have Software Updater, but strangely, not the so called Smart Scan. I won't miss that either. I know you've mentioned you don't restart your machine often but you might find if you run Live Update, then restart once or twice you may get the Software Updater. Every time a new build is released it pretty much always takes me at least two restarts before the new patch is fully applied.
@Krusty I do restart the computer with Norton installed on it frequently. It's just a computer I use for trying different antiviruses, not the main one I use. While I still don't have the Software Updater just yet, unlike you, I do have Smart Scan. But, it seems that there is a product update that Live Update is failing to install.
I just ran that and after Norton was reinstalled, and I installed all updates from LiveUpdate and then rebooted a few times, I have neither Smart Scan nor the Software Updater. But the issue with LiveUpdate is gone.
Hmm, very strange. They did say, "Some of the features are being throttled". I'm glad at least that the Live Update issue is resolved.
I joined the Early Adopter Program which you can do from the settings. After running a Smart Scan, I got the Software Updater.
