In your original post Mrk how did you know?

How did you know that's exactly what my last fortune cookie said?

I'd really like to see this graph with thick discernible greatly different colored lines so we could see whats really going on.

In the case of newbies - do you always answer a question with a question - that is no way to treat newbies! It should be sufficient to just tell them instead of asking them. This is a case of a question retarding the flow of information.

Nothing like a challenging question to stimulate the flow of innovative thinking, or is it?

Just answer the question about Synaptic Package Manager and what's underneath it, if you please.

I mean I was listing only the basic raw command line package managers.
Not the utilities that wrap them, or present a GUI, like yum, apt, zypper, etc.
And then the frontends, like synaptic, muon, etc.

Which is why we have only deb, rpm and pet listed.
