However, Peter Mandelson, a former EU trade commissioner and president of the Great Britain China Centre aimed at promoting dialogue between the two countries, accused the US of “fomenting hysteria” about Huawei “because [Trump] is driving a political and commercial agenda against China.”

He added: “In the UK and Europe, we must maintain a proper sense of perspective and not allow ourselves to be dragged into President Trump’s attempt to build an economic and technological iron curtain around China. This is his fight, not ours, and we must not become part of it on spurious security grounds.” op cit

Is it me or is Mandelson actually talking some sense about this 'controversy'?

Also the French president, Emmanuel Macron, commented on the issue on Thursday, saying his country was not aiming for a company boycott. He said “Our perspective is not to block Huawei or any company, it is to preserve our national security and European sovereignty. But I think launching now a technological war or a trade war … is not appropriate,”

And even Macron is doing the same. Without definitive proof that Huawei is a threat to national security I think the individual motives of those who claim any form of potential espionage should be examined. China is the future.

USA-based companies sells products with the same amount of critical vulnerabilities/backdoors. What's the difference? Difference is where money goes.

I said it from the start of this conspiracy boycott of Huawei, US worrying to lose supremacy over China. US lifeboat is that the economic world uses US dollars.

American 5G companies are so late on it, now they need their government to hamper rivals like Huawei to catch up.

Remind me the fabricated "discovery" of Irakian bioweapon cache, just to wage war to "access" Irak's oil reserves.

Guess what? when they will catch up and get contracts , they will be no more Huawei "backdoors"... Like there weren't any bioweapon cache...

Yes I agree. Huawei will overcome this though. The US can't rig the game forever.

"U.S. pushes hard for a ban on Huawei in Europe, but the firm’s 5G prices are nearly irresistible...

The Trump administration has moved to punish Huawei on national security grounds amid a bitter trade dispute with China. But in Europe, the world’s largest telecommunications equipment maker has received a different reception....

Last month, the Netherlands’ leading wireless carrier chose Huawei to provide equipment for its next-generation 5G wireless network. The carrier, KPN, insisted the choice was based on quality. But Huawei had another advantage: price.

Huawei underbid the existing vendor, Swedish firm Ericsson, by 60 percent...

The company can afford to provide such steep discounts in part because it has a silent partner: the Chinese government. Huawei gets hundreds of millions of dollars in annual subsidies...

At the same time, Huawei’s customers in the developing world can take advantage of loans at below-market interest rates, drawing on a staggering $100 billion line of credit at [Chinese] state-owned banks..."

Yes, as far as I know KPN did choose Huawei. But, as far as I know, the Dutch government can still block this.

Ok.. so apparently none of these statements are political...
    • “All that Huawei drama is just US gov conspiracy to win the 5G huge market.”
    • “Australia is such a puppet of USA, it is laughable.”
    • “It is just sad that USA president decision have such huge impact on Huawei business in Europe and India…”
    • “USA-based companies sells products with the same amount of critical vulnerabilities/backdoors. What's the difference? Difference is where money goes.”
    • “I said it from the start of this conspiracy boycott of Huawei, US worrying to lose supremacy over China.”
    • “Yes I agree. Huawei will overcome this though. The US can't rig the game forever.”
    • “No, it isn't normal. I so hope Huawei win this.”
But apparently it *is* political for me to say that I won't shed a tear for Huawei due to their years and years of intellectual property theft from American companies? Hmm...

you can say what you want, nobody shut your mouth here, but don't you find "funny" and very coincidental that all the dramas over Huawei started since the 5G war?
Why Australia keep using Huawei 4G infrastructures? if it is such a menace, i would remove all Huawei equipments.

and dont be such a naive, USA, China, Russia and most of the developed countries perpetually try to steal each other secrets, and backup their major companies.
Why do you thinks Presidents are for? Companies's best representatives.
It is business, serious business, not your neighborhood sandwich shop.
