That's right. Look at the cover, ignore the pages within 'cause you're going to be disappointed with years old technology that barely evolved from the present product.

"VIP Beta Testing Phase" = the thing is not even close to being done. They have only been working on it since early 2005.

Lavasoft is like Budweiser. Lots of people consume it even though it's not very good.

If Ad-Aware 2007 is a great product, I'll be the first to come back and apologize for the bashing.

But I'm pretty sure that Ad-Aware 2007 will be a slight evolution of the current product (which is desperately outdated) which they will tout as being something great.

Based on the countdown link it looks like it might just might offer some sort of real time protection. And I aint talking that stupid AdWatch either. :p

Note they are doing a retail box makeover too. :D :D Pulezzz!

I was a HijackThis Specialist AND Mod at their forums before they closed.

That wretched Ad-Watch hosed a lot of users machines and we never could get the code team to make the changes that was so desperately needed back then. Needless to say a lot of users were turned away by that alone.

I never did trust AdWatch myself and refused to even use it. I guess they feel time heals all wounds but a lot of users who got slammed by them are like elephants who will never forget, and who can blame them?

Besides, there are too many other BETTER anti-spyware programs where they don't turn their back on issues but go heads up after them to correct difficulties in their programs.

Lavasoft is definitely not one of them IMO.

Short and to the point. Loyal users no doubt can expect to remain in indefinite stand-by mode while efforts are put forth to fashion aaw for the next release.

Remains to be seen what will come of this. I venture to speculate that as long as Wilder's readers are included in beta-testing then some positive improvements for it are in the offing.

Let's track this progress and see just what developments come about from that announcement.

    Easter,
Instict told me not to use Adwatch after just a few trys with it. It made things not work right I guess you could say even unstable. I never could understand it. I am only a little savy on PC systems always learning though. Caused me to reboot but never messed me up that badly. Still what a total waste of money.

Poorest security investment I ever made AdAware Plus :(

Best security investment I ever made BOClean :) I think it more then made up for it.

Many like myself have long since distanced ourselves away from that program completely when they went suddenly haywire by dropping the support forums along with canning some very intelligent and hard working volunteers who only had the users best interest at heart as well as the program itself.

Be that as it may it was no matter as anyone can plainly attest to today, other better programs overtook the popularity of AAW and have advanced onward with a loyal following by listening to even the gripes of their users and making improvements to everyones satisfaction. They take seriously user issues and see to it a users good system is not put at risk with either malware or their own program.

Ho Hum. Heard it all before.

Seeing is believing. Anyone read anything in all that "hype" about whether or not it uses any type of HIPS like ST or offer rootkit detections yet?
