    Hi Phant0m :)
Could you please explain this? I'm not sure what these things mean.
Is there non hardware based DEP, and what is it? (HIPS?)

EDIT: And like you, I have a cheap PC (no DEP, i think)

I've just installed the beta version of LnS(2.06) on a new HP Vista machine with Nvidia Networking adapter. The driver version is 6.2.0.126,it says its supplied by MS.It seems to be running fine-I have signed off, shut down, etc and still have the Internet Connection when I try to reconnect, although I'm on cable modem which,of course is really always on.I wonder if the driver is Nvidia manufactuered and just installed by MS.Also,I tried to register the firewall the new method with e-mail and it doesn't seem to work-the e-mail address disappears and it doesn't seem registered-it leaves the e-mail space blank although the Serial number remains. It probably doesn't recognize the new computer.I sent a bug report/request to the support-I filled out the form.Hope this little info helps, after reading above about suspected Nvidia driver problems.

Must be with WinXP SP2, visit ‘Performance Options’ and 'Data Execution Prevention' Tab, near the bottom of this screen it’ll state if your computer does not support hardware-based DEP. For information on DEP click on the text ‘How does it work?’ shown at the top of this screen.

Yes, this is actually the right version.
Just emailed you a new serial.
Thanks, good to know it is working for you under Vista with this driver.

My computer too doesn't support hardware-based DEP.The software DEP is applied by default for essential Windows programs and services.

To turn it on for all programs, would that enhance security or create more problems? Thanks

    Hi,

You need to send us an email (at lnssupport@soft4ever.com) with your current registration information explaining you are using the new version.
Or you can use the support form:
    http://www.looknstop.com/En/support2.htm

This is required only when installing Look 'n' Stop on a new configuration or when the Look 'n' Stop code has changed.

When simply updating a registered and running version of Look 'n' Stop 2.05 to the 2.06, the code and serial are kept and Look 'n' Stop still registered.

Normally it should enhance the security, but some applications may be not compatible and this could create some problems.
Anyway you can enable it and see what happens.

The name of the value in the registry is "MaxSPIEntries" and is located in [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lnsfw] (this key needs to be created).

What type of Internet connection you have? I think for most the 256 simultaneous connections would be significant, however problems exists with the TCP stateful state table.

When running p2p software I see the Look 'n' Stop doesn’t enforce 95% of its timeouts for TCP connections, the entries remain in the state table indefinitely. To re-fresh you would need to temporarily disable TCP SPI and re-activate it, however you cannot simply do this when having already some connections or there be some problems. A re-launch of the Look ‘n’ Stop application or a re-boot would do the trick also.

    Hi Frederic,

1)- Is it possible in next beta or future release, LnS will have option/capable to enable or disable this features ?. One with DEP (Hardware/Os) support can disable it and one without DEP support can turn it on... IMO...its fair enough to everyone...:D

2)- What happen to registry entries which are activated in LnS 2.05p3, ie: the "CheckDNSQ", "CheckHSRE", "CheckVAEUDTF", etc ?. Are they still relevant to this Beta or one can delete those entries...?

    TIA
