Thank you Brian! Very interesting. At this time, I have the IFL boot ISO included in my boot up menu via EasyBCD, which allows me to choose either booting into windows or booting into IFL. I have the IFL.ISO placed in my recovery partition along with a few other ISO files.

I am certainly going to check out your link, this is also an excellent option. Thank you very much. That was very kind of you to share this. I think I remember you mentioning this before. Terabyte products sure have some great flexibility.

    Have a good night :)

got two questions , first , does the dos boot disk required reregistration if i already register the main program?

sec , in dos mode i want to back up my c:\ partition , so do i have to choose " bios " or " bios (direct)" ?? and what the differences between both of them?

    demoneye,

When you run makedisk.exe to create a CD/flash drive there is a field to enter your IFD/IFL serial number. This is a different number from your IFW number.

Re BIOS and BIOS (Direct), use which works best in your computer. BIOS works better in one of my computers and BIOS (Direct) works better in another.

Edit... If you are writing the image to a USB HD, I suggest you use use IFL instead of IFD. IFD might be OK but IFL often writes faster than IFD to a UDB HD.
If you are writing the image to a network share, use IFL.

IFW, IFD and IFL can restore each others images.

If you create an IFW image of a data partition you can restore the image while still in Windows. Using IFW. But if you image the OS partition you can't restore this while in Windows. It has to be restored by an IFW, IFD or IFL boot disk.

Edit.... Yes, the IFD boot disk does expire.

I forgot, the trial boot disk can't be registered.

Edit... If you like the TeraByte products I suggest you buy the Bundle. It has to be the best valued software available. Boot Manager, Partition Manager, three imaging apps, TBOSDT. All updated every month or two.

What you have to do in order to properly register IFD, IFL boot media is to purchase the program(s). As Brian mentioned, buying the bundle is the way to go, as it offers you all the programs and tools that make it a very capable complete suite. i bought the bundle in Feb. of this year, and was the best deal plus offers the use of all their tools.

Whatever you decide to purchase, you will be given a product key, and after you get that key, you will have to re-create again the boot media, and you will be asked from the boot builder for your name and registration/product code data. Then it will create your boot media and they will not expire.

Not sure, but you may have to download the products again after you purchase them as you will be given the links after you purchase. Maybe Brian can clarify this part. If your trial programs asked you for name and registration, than it is a matter of recreating the boot media and adding your name and reg data. In any case, it is a simple procedure to create the registered boot/recovery media.

    Hope that helps :)

    Jim,

That's correct. The products to register are different downloads. Except for IFW.

    mantra,

You can install IFL in Ubuntu but it doesn't have PHYLock so you can't create images of the OS partition. You can image an unmounted partition.

You can create images of the Windows partitions as long as you don't have them mounted in Linux.

Which language pack are you using? Is your Active WinPE x64?

    mantra,

See page 32 in the userguide for an explanation.

Do you also need to select Align Partitions on 2048 Sectors?

You can't install IFW into Ubuntu. You can install IFL in Ubuntu. You would need to extract the IFL download in Ubuntu and then run the setup script. There's a small section in the manual on this: Running Image for Linux without using a Boot Disc.

In Ubuntu, you'll probably also need to make the user a member of the Disk group to get access to the drives (see this KB article).
