    how effective is it againts rootkits?
    by the way i lost my key does any one has an extra licence key for me?thanks

    I don't know if you have already found it but I think Download.com still has it if you use Google Site Search.

    i have some free time is not going to be permanet as defensewall is;) it is only for testing purposes

    It'll be interesting to hear what you discover, especially with some real nasties, like TDSS etc ;)

    You can't beat a nice set of Hips :D

    On topic, i ran SSM for a while a few years ago, but found it overly complicated to set up properly. Great if you like that kind of thing though ;)

    I made certain that my install of the (XP Pro SP2 ) OS on my new custom build was absolutely clean... then I let her rip!, i.e learning mode. :)

    Now, SSM is barely noticeable!...besides I don't mind a few popups...from them I have learned a lot.

    Yeah learnings good, most of the time :D

    So your still using SSM, obviously with no issues by the sound of it :thumb: Which version ?

    Has anything ever sneaked by etc ?

    Yeah a friend of mine once got infected with that very nasty motherboard rootkit :D He had to replace everything

    Which would that be, because I have never heard of it.

    Hopefully, when I get my next custom build it, I will setup it with the works...at least 3 hard drives, dual boot, virtualization and cloning etc.

    In hindsight I would have setup my present system differently... but since I have never had to reformat intentionally, I'll leave be.
