Another thing that should be considered by those worried about System Restore failures, and that is the need for imaging the whole disk. With a good imaging program and schedule, System Restore almost becomes unnecessary.

I for one have it turned off.

If you are having trouble with restoring a previous system restore point I recommend using a Boot Disk. If you need the info on where to obtain the ISO image that you burn to a blank CD/DVD I can supply that. This boot disk is in no way illegal warez or whatever it's a completely legal alternative to booting from your hard disk at startup. You can get the Vista Boot Disk here -> windows-vista-recovery-disc-download

After burning the ISO to a blank CD/DVD, just put the disk in your CD drive (make sure you have BIOS set to boot from CDROM first) and restart your computer. It's considered an EXTREMELY clean boot method and from there you can choose several repairs options including system restore.

When system restore fails otherwise while in either normal or safe mode, this always seems to work fine for me.

    Update

We are now testing a resolution that should provide relief for this issue in the current Labs version.

After useing this paid verson off " Giveawayoftheday" I went and later took it off to do afew things on my pc. Thats when I found out it wiped out all my system restore . So I to now see what the rest are talking about. I started a new restore point and haven't put Returnil back on.
