Im using Winpatrol plus at the moment mainly to manage startup programs,
can you use System Explorer in the same way?
Any thoughts on System Explorer would be helpful ie is it lightweight, easy to use
    etc.
if you have used both which do you prefer, reasons? thanks :)

SE is easy to use and can be helpful...but is not necessary use it in real-time. All apps to manage autostart, running processes, services, etc. have not still work in system.
BTW...for me the best app to manage autostart is AutoRuns

System Explorer is an advanced Task Manager, not a startup manager. For startup I use Soluto, which makes it easy to delay startup items as well as disable them.
