I just read the following thread earlier on this forum, "Do registry cleaners really improve speed?" and on the same page I find this thread.
I use CCleaner, EasyCleaner, KCleaner, DiskCleaner, CleanAfterMe, Regvac, Adwanced System Care, PC-derapifier, Clonespy (duplicate files). Why so many? Because they combined do an incredible cleanup job and I am always satisfied. I have tried many apps before and also had some bad experiences with some, but these are the ones I NEVER had bad experience with when cleaning my and also othe peoples computers and I have been using tem for a long time now (some longer than other but..). They are also all portable (or have portable versions), I have them on my usb that i use for cleaning and fixing computers. p.s.: When using cleanup apps for registry cleaning, be carefull and make backups, the programs I use all make backup copys of the registrys I delete and also I always make a restore point before cleaning my systems registry. For example I also sometimes use Revouninstaller, but would NOT recomend it to an unexperienced user, simply because it is not 100% and does not make a backup of the registry by itself.. There is ALWAYS a risk factor with such apps.
To do system cleanup tasks, I always use Piriform Ccleaner Slim. Sometimes, I run Windows Disk Cleaup and the built-in cleanup utilities of the software I have installed (like the "Clear recent data" from Firefox) as well. To do registry cleanup tasks, I use Ccleaner's built-in basic registry cleaner and a full PC Tools Registry Mechanic.
I use primarily CCleaner in my PC. I also occasionally use CleanMgr (WinXP) to clean extra restore points. ATF cleaner is what I use when dealing with someone else's computer.
Been using R Wipe&Clean which is a very nice tool for the job, looks to be a complete privacy and clean up tool.
Ace Utilities and CCleaner when getting off my browser r wipe and clean have it set to clean when you close any browser
CCleaner and jv16 Power Tools 2010. I regularly use CCleaner only with its main function "Cleaner". With XP I used to clean the registry using jv16 Power Tools, and could see some improvement in performance. With Vista I stopped altogether using Power Tools, as no matter what I do, performance doesn't improve, and nowadays I'm warier to delete anything from the registry. Still, I find Power Tools an excellent application to check the system.
For items like the browser cache and the temporary internet files folder, one option is to move them to a RAM drive. It will automatically be emptied at each reboot. A lot of apps let you move their temp folders to a location of your choosing. Most newer systems have more than enough RAM to support a RAMdrive.
I use click&clean only in Google Chrome. For rest of the system, I prefer CCleaner with CCleaner Enhancer (modified rules myself according to my needs).
