    Hi all
I have a question, I often submit different samples to www.virustotal.com and I noticed than in list of AV's Symantec have newer definition than my NIS 2007. For example two hours ago I submited sample and Symantec already have definition dated 05.08.2007 while my NIS 2007 have 05.07.2007.
I run liveupdate several times but it shows there is no new updates...
I know that Symantec and Norton have same definitions, but that case shows there is a diference o_O
    Any suggestion about it?

    Sorry for my bad english

Symantec updates more frequently. In fact, Symantec had SONAR quite a bit before Norton did. Also, Symantec Corporate comes with a slightly more advanced scan engine than NAV, and it basically gets all new engine features before NAV. So basically, corporate users get the cream of the crop and the rest get whats left. :)

The definition file for new version is the same, daily update, and there are definitions more frequent for other use. The problem you encounted maybe the time zone.
Corporate edition don't have sonar for there is a similar product for corporate users, I can't say symantec engine is advance than norton, it is optimized for corporate enviroment, and always get new feather later than familiy products except for intrution definition file update.
symantec antivirus added automatic spyware remove later than norton antivirus, its ability is the same or less without the veritas Symantec Real Time Storage Protection Component
