    Hi,
I just want to know why i keep getting sv-chost errors and how I can get rid of it. Also, my computer won't set Yahoo as my homepage. Instead, eveyrtime i close it (after setting yahoo as homepage) and restart my Internet Explorer, a site called www.search-space.com keeps on coming out. Help!? thanks.

    Hi JC,

You have multiple viruses installed so you will want to do an online scan but first close all apps/windows and select and fix the following...

    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.search-space.com/
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.search-space.com/
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,HomeOldSP = http://www.search-space.com/
    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName =
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {00110011-4B0B-44D5-9718-90C88817369B} - C:\WINDOWS\NavExt.dll
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {f760cb9e-c60f-4a89-890e-fae8b849493e} - C:\WINDOWS\madise.dll
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [System Service] C:\WINDOWS\System32\msrexe.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Online Service] C:\WINDOWS\svchost.exe
O10 - Broken Internet access because of LSP provider 'lsp.dll' missing
    O16 - DPF: {f760cb9e-c60f-4a89-890e-fae8b849493e} (IRDIXAObj Class) -

Then reboot and delete the following,

    C:\WINDOWS\NavExt.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\madise.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\msrexe.exe
C:\WINDOWS\svchost.exe <--- be sure you only delete the one in the Windows directory and not the system32 directory!

Then I would advise you to do an online virus scan such as the one from Panda...

    http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/com/activescan_principal.htm

You should also download and install the trial version of TDS from here

    http://tds.diamondcs.com.au/index.php?page=download

After installing it and before running it, manually download the latest definitions for it freom the same page as above, and place that file over the one in the TDS folder. Then launch TDS and set all sensitivity settings to their highest and scan your system.

    Good luck :)

Add this one to the list Dan posted:
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] c:\windows\qttasks.exe

and delete the c:\windows\qttasks.exe file as well.
Definitely not the real thing, but another CWS hijack.

    Regards,

    Pieter

I could'nt find the following to delete:
    C:\WINDOWS\NavExt.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\madise.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\msrexe.exe
    c:\windows\qttasks.exe
Is it maybe because I ran spy bot: S&D prior to posting here?. o_O

    Hi J C,

That might account for some of them, but others may be hidden files.
To "unhide" hidden files and folders:
Launch My Computer from the Desktop Icon.
    Select View, Details.
    Select the Folders button.
Select Tools, Folder Options. Then select the View Tab. Select the Show hidden files and folders radio button is selected
and that the Hide file extensions for known file types check box is unchecked. Once this is done, select Apply and then
Like Current Folder (located near the top of the Folder Options box). Then select OK.

    Regards,

    Pieter
