Does there exist a website malware or nasty that if a person visits a particular website, that a script or program can run in the background, and search ALL partitions for text files and send the text files back to hackers?

In the movies, maybe. I don't see a visited website being able to grab your text files at all.

Yeah, I suppose "everything is possible" in the sense that its possible that the Sun will supernova before morning.

I'd be more concerned with my pc being turned into a botnet than worried about some text files.

If something bad executes on your system, then yes, you're at the mercy of whatever that malware was programmed to do until you remove it. That being said, what's more likely to happen is that the files will be copied if the hacker has actual access, or they'll just plant a trojan on the system to log keystrokes. All it really takes is a drive by download from one bad website. The lesson here is don't store stuff you don't want stolen or copied on the system you use for internet access.

Yeah, that's absolutely true. Reading again, maybe I misread what he was fearing could happen.
