To the developer that comes on here...is the real-time protection as good as 3.9? I mean, geezus, it went from ~30MB to 388KB on my machine...If it is, awesome job!

The auto-updates check every 8 hours - so you may have have had it past the time to check. We will be adding an option to check for definition updates on startup as well in the next release.

If you are running the other products you can turn off the First Chance, or just turn off the services scanning on startup. The next release will greatly speed up the First Chance Prevention as well.

I'm currently running the Free version of 3.9. Do I have to uninstall this first before installing 4.0 or can I install over the top?

I don't know about the real time impact on resourses, using it only on demand, but its faster every time a new build is released.

    Complimento Nick.

I have been usung SAS free on demand for ages and been happy with it and the latest update was quick and flawless, but I am looking at my current protection which realtime, I want Firewall/Hips, Antivirus and Antispyware.

My first 2 choices are settled on Online Armour paid and Kav latest verion paid 2 years my current Antispyware is a-squared antimalware paid which is possibly duplicating the other protection apparently without conflicts.

Is anyone here running OA,Kav and SAS pro and most importantly should these 3 programs be considered satisfactory protection, bearing in mind Returnil is activated for any surfing the Darkside.

Returnil + Sandboxie as my first line protection,no resident stuff, for on demand SAS and Dr Web Cureit,i am testing it for 2 months on one of my rigs and sofar its great.

Can't answer your question cause i am slimming down all the more my security setups to its bare essentials. Why ? it saves me money and again learning time, its better spend on things i love better.

I've just gone over to Online Armor Pro from ZA Pro and running with NOD32 v3 and SAS Pro plus SpywareBlaster. I do have Ad-Aware 2007 just for manual scans but I'm probably going to drop that as I am not impressed with the new version.

Apart from that everything else is running together very smoothly :thumb:

Thanks Joan, you are having the same protection that is the same 3 components, I think I will trial SAS pro if I can replacing a-squared.

Hello everyone. I'm new to SAS and have been trying the free one for a couple of days now. Is there a compatibility issue between SAS 4 and ThreatFire? Cos the only way it seems for me to be able to run SAS and do a scan is by adding it to the trusted apps on ThreatFire's config... Should these two programs even be installed together?

Yes, average about 5.38% - but an improvement on the 3.9x versions where
    I had about 15%.
Memory usage 390-420K (with occasional spikes to about 6000K). Peak Working Set about 48000K to 74000K) and quite heavy page file usage
(by design I think). The on-demand scanner is excellent. I didn't reboot
after the update but wasn't asked to.
