What I like about SAS and also MBAM is that they are not bloated at all, I just wish AV's were the same.

It's very good at that. It's just a shame the detection of malware is very poor. I remember when SAS was first released and it was one of the best antispyware products back then.

Yep, it just couldn't / can't keep up these days because it still relies on signatures so it will always be behind newer technology.

I bumped this useless program years ago, it never ever caught anything but cookies :thumbd::thumbd::thumbd:

I still use the free version. I like seeing the little bug in my system tray.

If you're using the free version why on earth would you want SAS running in the background wasting system resources?

The only security I run real-time is my FW. The free version of SAS is purely on-demand. When doing on-demand scans or updates, SAS uses but a dai-sukoshi modicum of cpu.

By the way, I appreciate your condescending to ask me such an elitist question.

Thanks for the sarcasm, but I am happy you enjoy having a bug in your tray. Perhaps you have one elsewhere as well? Yep, I rolled my eyes too!

FYI, I also have the free version of SAS installed but it does not run in the background, only when I'm checking my machine for cookies.... but if you like that bug. :isay:

I purchased a lifetime license years ago, but never did use it. I remember trying to use my license several years ago, and it informed me that my license was no good. It turned out to be a bad investment.

I like the bug in my system tray too. I've run SAS (freeware) for nearly nine years, regardless of what the 'pundits' claim it still has an efficacy as an anti-malware program. I've used MBAM, Spybot S&D and others in the past and all they've ever done is find false positives or in one case, missed actual malware that SAS found and removed. Nine years later, I have a different AV, different computer and browsers, but I still have the little bug in my systems tray.

    I like it. :thumb:
