    I have that set up as manual, but SAS Free doesn't start it at all. Why is that so? Will version 5 start it when necessary?

    It's designed to be LEFT RUNNING. If you modify software, it won't work as intended :)

    I just think manual is better for on-demand only though. If it's so essential, why doesn't SAS at least check its status?

    Only technical users touch services or software configuration - so it hasn't been a priority nor really needed.

    But, wouldn't it be a better approach to set the service to Manual start? Regarding the free version, it doesn't make any sense to have the service set to Automatic, IMHO.

    last time I checked it was horrible experience.. I hope the real time protection improves because this is a really good program:) with low system usage:D

    Sometimes reboots are required when drivers are updated - for the most part rebooting won't be necessary.

    With todays' update I have lost the context menu > right click option for scanning a file.
