I contacted someone from the ClearCloud team and it appears the main issue we have with implementing this feature is that we don't collect enough information from the user. Basically, we only have available the domain information at the web server that hosts the blocked page and not the full URL. Since we are still developing ClearCloud and it is still in beta, there are other features that are currently a higher priority that we need to get in place before this. However, it is our most requested feature and we are currently looking into how it can be done. Basically, this will likely require somewhat significant changes and we want to be sure everything is working smoothly before coming out of beta and implementing additional features.

Is anyone having problems with it? For the last two days, from time to time, I've been noticing issues with domain names not being resolved, and Internet connection taking quite a few seconds to finally be 100% up.

I still haven't changed DNS to see if it's a problem with it or not, otherwise I'd have to change all my firewall rules to reflect the change, but if you're also having problem then that's the culprit.

    Thanks

Not yet. I'm lazy :D And, as I said, I'm not really sure if it's ClearCloud DNS or my own ISP service that is degrading; wouldn't be the first time lol

If it continues, then I'll change DNS and see if it remains, then I'll report it accordingly. :)

It seems ClearCloud DNS considers -www.co.cc- web hosting service to be potentially malicious.

For what I could dig, it is a safe service? I know that some bad people make use of this service to host malware/malicious content, but is the service itself a bad one?

Does anyone know more about it? It's a false positive?

They could block whole co.cc IP range, because of some IP there serving malware. On block page there is a link to form where you can submit a false positive (or just go to http://66.129.99.88/Blocked/falsepositive.php?domain=co.cc ). Write to them with your concerns, they usually react fast to such queries.

I unfortunately don't know this web hosting service, so there's little I can tell you about them.

Oh, yes, I had already submitted a false positive report, and was told that they just block the entire IP range due to the malware infections coming from such web hosting. Not that the hosting service, itself, is a bad one, rather that malware writers take advantage of it.

It's easily bypassed by modifying the hosts file to redirect to the IP address.

I was just wondering if the service, itself, was also a bad one.

    Thanks for your feedback. :)

While I also unfortunately do not know the specific date when this will occur, I believe it will likely be somewhat soon. I'm assuming this because we plan to have the option to use ClearCloud integrated in with our next software update for VIPRE which is currently planned for release in February. Of course, it's possible this could change but this is the current plan. We should be able to offer more specific information regarding this in the near future.

    Firzen771,

I don't work directly with ClearCloud myself but as far as I know we are still researching the possible implementations for this feature and do not currently have a specific time frame as to when this will be implemented. I'll see if I can get any more specific information regarding this.

Removed DynDNS after disappointment with the 0 development it appears to be getting and the 0 support for reporting URL's Barracuda was giving.

Now testing ClearCloud again for the first time since July last year, and I'm impressed with both the speed and how well it blocks new malware. I'm assuming it also blocks phishing?

Personal emails, can't comment much. It's related to a performance issue with DynDNS that I've had to bounce emails back and forth about with support (they don't really care about their free service, only their paid solutions), and Barracuda's shoddy URL reporting system which doesn't work and they don't bother fixing it, meaning harmless URL's get blocked and some that should, don't (which I've also had to bounce emails back on forth with their support about, for the past 4-5 months, they confirmed the issue over 2 months ago)

I don't suppose you know if CC blocks phishing websites? :p

I did notice some false positives as well and missed malicious links. May try ClearCloud soon.

No idea, but I hope they bring something like this: -http://www.nortondns.com/

Norton DNS now offers content filtering. I hope ClearCloud does it too, but I'd rather want this to be set on the client side, rather than having to create and login to an account. Or both options.
