What is the difference between this and Secunia PSI?

I assume that SUMo is used to find product versions only.

and Secunia PSI is used to scan for software vulnerabilities/holes?

If I'm wrong, please let me know.

If I'm not, I might run this in conjunction with Secunia PSI.

SUMo usually finds more products. Use in conjunction is a good practice

So would you say my analysis of each program is true, or are they roughly the same thing?

    Reason why I ask is...

If I do a scan with Secunia PSI, it says everything is up to date in the program, but somewhere on the web it tells me a newer version is out for one of my software titles. Which tells me, that Secunia PSI is basically just searching for versions that only specify security vulnerabilities, and not the version number that only has bug fixes, new features, etc.

yes, Secunia has security/vulnerability/exploit in mind and is DB is small basically Flash, Java, browser, Office programs, Sumo inform you about new versions (if some Sumo user had the same program and the DB is hudge so for sure exist) no matter if is a secur update or a cosmetic change in the GUI.
I personally stop using secunia and I only use Sumo 'cause if everything is update I do my maximum possible, and if still exist a IE9 exploit till 2009 well, Secunia can tell me this but it can't solve

    Kyle Katarn!

I see you are still "just taking care of business".

How are things going with the new students at the Temple? How's good old Skywalker doing?

    Hi,

This is due to the low number of this program using SUMo too.
By bringing more users to SUMo, this kind of problem would be made less frequent... please help me finding new users :)

    Thanks !
