This is an open-to-comment rant about SUMo's embeded malware: :'(

Kyle, I, for one, would gladly pay for a malware-free version of SUMo. :thumb:

The reason that MBAM Pro and Kaspersky, among others, see your products for what they are right now is because, quite frankly, they are crapware. Fortunately for me, I allow Webroot SecureAnywhere and PrivateFirewall to install SUMo and then "block" any/all attemps to install Relevant Knowledge and God-knows what else.

You have a good product, one-of-a-kind actually. :) I use it every day on my systems and and all systems that I am working on. Come on man, you've come so far. Please don't leave us hanging.... :gack:

How can you miss all the discussion of the lite and portable versions? They're readily available for free without crapware. Click the WinZip and installer icons.

Agree, except...........I have used SUMo Lite for several years now and NEVER had any malware or virus from it. This blocking by MBAM is my first ever incident with SUMo. Response in MBAM forums about this was:

"This has nothing to do with SuMo, but with the 47 issues still outstanding on this IP alone.Once OVH finally responds and deals with the incidents on the IP, the block will be removed."

This is true, those versions DO NOT fire off any antivirus products. It's RK, RK push files that are coming off as Malware because RK is basically a trojan downloaded regardless of how legit they try to make it. So virtually every AV will detect that as malicious. SUMo itself will not be detected, if you do get a detection SUMo, please let me know.

If you look back in this thread, I revealed that SUMo's IP address is a launchpad for Malware. Nobody else at the time seemed to know about this. When the same IP cluster is used to launch Malware, then you have to be very very careful.

    Hi,

I don't read what you say there.
The IP cluster is OVH, #1 hosting company in France and 500.000 are affected by MBAM blocking policy.
MBAM seems to be blindly applying their blocking rules... I guess that many people will have to drop it.

I see no evidence of any problem being reported on SUMo. We're safe.

I dont know the details of why the ip is blocked etc and i think if the program was malicious in anyway then the developer would certainly not be coming on this forum....It looks like its one of the best updating software out there.

It is not Sumo but IP issues.

I also hope they get it fixed - on my Windows 7, I can right-click on the popup blocking the site and the site goes in the "ignore list" and all is ok. But, in Windows 8, when i right-click on the pop up, nothing happens. Is there another way of adding the site to the "ignore list"? I am trying to get MBAM to find a solution, but no luck yet.

It's the first time I've heard of the issue here, but what first comes to mind is MBAM is blocking you because of the RK stuff..which isn't strange or even wrong of them. It doesn't matter that you also host a "clean" version on your site, RK is what this is likely about. Perhaps it's time you found a better method of income? I'm not trying to be a jerk, but you've had user trust issues before with this. Look into other methods so this kind of thing won't happen. I agree MBAM IP blocking can get a little overzealous. They block the website for Emule and other P2P software that doesn't even have any suspicious stuff bundled.

Just checked with MBAM : Neither SUMo nor RK are in cause but other web site on the same IP cluster.
